Bonjour ! Blog week 3.6.19

Bonjour!

We have been working on developing team work this week and have been trying this out by going into the different p1 classrooms and mixing with different children during literacy and numeracy times.  In numeracy we were learning the greater and less than sign.

Some of us enjoyed playing this game (will only play with flash)  http://www.softschools.com/math/greater_than_less_than/alligator_greater_than_game/

We have also been practising french greetings and  counting in french up to 20.

In topic , Maisie was interested to see if Walrus had eggs or live young like humans. This also led us on to looking at the lifecycle of a turtle. Some have enjoyed playing a turtle game on the smart board. Cooper made a little turtle shell hat.

We have been planning some more experiences for under the sea themed food which we will be doing next week when we are back to our home classes after getting to know our new P2 class.

P5f Learn it! Log it! Blog it! 7.6.19

Happy Friday all!

This week has been busy in P5! We have been learning about William Wallace and his place in history. He has been fascinating to learn about!

We have also spent time exploring decimal numbers and fractions. We have been comparing and ordering them, as well as adding and subtracting them! We are all making great progress with this!

Next week, we are looking forward to meeting our new teacher during transition and then getting reading for our final few weeks in P5!

🙂

P6a Blog 7.6.19

Hello everyone!

Here is a little snapshot of what we have been learning recently in P6a.

Ferida – Our new topic is World War 2, and we have been looking at the D-Day Landings which began 75 years ago yesterday. We have also been learning about the Holocaust and what life was like in a concentration camp.

Skye – Learning about concentration camps and gas chambers makes me feel sad. It was terrible.

Coen – Mrs Hastings showed us some pictures she took at Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp. It looks awful.

Liam – It’s so sad what happened there.

Charlie – Last week we competed in a cross country race. The Windyknowe boys’ team came first out of 6 schools!

Liam – In PE with Mrs Howard we have been playing rounders. It’s really fun!

Charlie – Miss Hesp has been teaching us skills for basketball. We have learned how to dribble, shoot and do a lay-up.

Ferida – We found out our new teacher today. I am excited to start P7!

Lewis – For the last few weeks we have been seeing our buddies in the nursery. Next week we will be helping them get started in Primary 1. I’m looking forward to spending more time with them when I’m in P7.

Coen – We wrote a letter to our new teacher to tell her a bit about ourselves.
