P5M Learn it! Log it! Blog it!

Over the last few weeks P5M have been learning about…

Maths – learning how to identify the difference between an analogue and digital clock. Also, we have been looking at how to convert between analogue and digital clocks and adding 12 hours to account for PM times. We have also been exploring how to read minutes on an analogue clock.

Grammar – we have been learning about adjectives and nouns and how to identify them. We have been using them to uplevel of sentences. This week we will be looking at verbs and how they can make a sentence, paragrpah or story more interesting.

In PE, we have been looking at dribbling and how best to control a football. We hope to use our skills to progress to passing and shooting as well as playing a match against each others’ groups. In topic, we have been looking at natural disasters and we completed a ‘What We Know’ grid as well as a ‘What We’d Like to Know’ grid to lead and enhance our learning.

P7P have been exploring lots of different new strategies in their numeracy. We have been looking at fractions, decimals and percentages as well as prime numbers and factors of numbers to give us a better understanding of numeracy. We continue to be accessing our learning through ICT, textbooks as well as group games. These can be accessed and practiced at home too –

We are continuing to explore much more of the outdoors as part of fitness fortnight and our daily run a mile. The great sunshine recntly has allowed us to do this more and more. Additionally, we continue to be using our problem solving skills to complete many activities in and around the school. These will involve working together with our peers and demonstrating resilience. We hope as much as possible for this to resemble the camp experience that P7 learners normally have.

Please continue to send in any pictures by email to the school of P7P children over the years so we can use them for our Leavers Assembly! These will be shared within the Leavers Assembly only and will not be posted online.

In P7P, we are beginning to explore much more of the outdoors and we have looked at how to follow instructions on how to build a tent as part of our writing and we hope to put this into practice soon by building our own tents. We are really excited to be learning new skills of cooperation and showing initiative. Additionally, we will be using problem solving skills to complete many activities in and around the school such as orienteering. These will involve working together and demonstrating resilience. Like previous years in P7, we hope as much as possible for this to resemble the camp experience that P7 learners normally have.

In maths, we have been studying different shapes and working out their perimeter and surface area. We have applied our learning to real-life contexts too such as football pitches and our own playground. In numeracy, we are continuing explore the four capacities of adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing and we are using our skills and knowledge to answer worded problems in particular.
