We have been learning about COP 26 and why it’s important – we have also been looking at global warming and we can confidently say what the greenhouse effect is. We will also be excited to learn about climate change in Australia and how the landscape and environment are changing. We have been really excited about completing experiments – we competed an experiment whereby we used baking soda, food colouring, a lamp to represent the sun as well as vingar to create a small amount of co2. We could see how global warming is created.

In maths we have been continuing to explore different ways of measuring – in particular we have been focussing on estimating lenghts and then taking their actual measurements and comparing the two. We have also been looking at mm, cm, meters and kilometers.

In P5M, we will be looking at lots of new things across our curricululm. and we have made a great start this term by looking at some of them.

We have started a new topic all about Australia. We are looking forward to learning about the people, the food and about Australian cities such as Melbourne and Sydney. We will also be focusing on climate and conservation as part of this topic. In Art, we have been learning about an Australian artist named Ken Done. Ken Done creates colourful artworks of famous Australian landmarks. We created our own art in the style of Ken Done. We used crayon to draw the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House. Then we used watercolour paint to colour the background.

In Maths we will be looking at Measure this term and making links to real life examples – such as estimating and then measuring everyday objects. We have begun estimating lengths and measuring lengths in cm using a ruler.

We are looking forward to taking part in cross-country in our PE this term also.

In health, we will be looking at ‘Celebrating Difference’ and looking at what makes us all unique individuals and recognising how best to celebrate our differences and embracing different personal characteristics.
