Primary 5m – Friday 28th January 2022

We have been learning about Scottish inventors and this week we focussed on John Logie Baird, who invented the television. During our lessons we got to make flip books. Hopefully you will have seen the ones we brought home.

In writing, we learnt to write Haikus. Did you know a Haiku has 5 syllables in the first line, 7 syllables in the second line and 5 syllables in the third line? Our theme for our Haikus was winter.

As part of our PE we got to take the volleyballs out and we practised our passes and played tadpoles. We will explain the rules for tadpoles when we get home.

This week our Numeracy has focussed on dividing. The methods we were allowed to use were step sums, sharing and putting them into fractions.

We went online for the author sessions. We got to ask questions of the authors about their books and writing. There were a lot of questions.

We will be in touch soon to tell you more about our learning.

Primary 6bw – Blog Post – Friday 24th September 2021

We have been learning about:

  • Number patterns – we have been adding in missing numbers and counting on in number patterns
  • Scottish Myths and Legends – specifically the Kelpies and the Loch Ness Monster. The Loch Ness Monster lives in a Loch near Inverness. The Kelpies are said to be able to shape shift. The Kelpies are the only horses that can breath under water.
  • UFO’s and alien landings and next week we are going to build our own UFOs
  • Boot Camp for PE. We have had to do lunges, planks, squats, star jumps, skipping ropes and shuttle runs
  • Equality and differences in Health and what racism actually means. We have drawn our ribbons for Ribbons against Racism.
  • Forming our letters correctly in handwriting. We wrote Happy Birthday in Spanish while we were practising.
  • Fairies and for our IDL and Art we have been creating fairy doors
  • How to say how old are you and then answer with our ages in Spanish

Things we have enjoyed learning about:

  • Campbell has enjoyed adding, multiplying and dividing in his maths work
  • Oliver has enjoyed doing his writing this week as he was doing sensory descriptions
  • Riley has enjoyed the Scottish Myths and Legends because he got to research them and make a poster
  • Harry enjoyed doing his running in PE because he has been learning new ways to start
  • Rizuana enjoyed Spanish because that is a language she likes
  • Aadam enjoyed Mental Maths this week because he got to do bigger sums

Things we are looking forward to:

  • Tristan is looking forward to making his UFO
  • Harry is looking forward to finishing off his fairy door and framing it for the wall
  • Beth is looking forward to doing more handwriting so that she gets better at it
  • Eilidh is looking forward to doing Numeracy because she has enjoyed the number patterns and would like to do more.
