Day 3 at Lendrick Muir

Today some more of our groups went to do Bushcraft. We went through the forest to collect twigs and then we went back to where we were building our fire. One of the instructors called Fin dug holes for us to build our fires in. Once we had built our fires we made our bread and baked it. It was yummy!

We got to go on the inflatables today. One was called bungee run, it was where you had the bean bag and you had to try and run as far as you could with it without getting pulled back. It was exciting. The other inflatable was called cannonball, we think. You had to try and knock each other off that one.

Some groups did archery today. We had to get the bows and then do the firing line stance. We pulled the bow back to our cheek and then let go. We had to try and get as many points as possible with our arrows, but a lot went in the grass. We realised that you need to pull back quickly and release quickly to get lots of power. Unfortunately, we didn’t have time for the pizza game today.

We had a bike ride through the forest and over an obstacle course. We had to brake hard near the stream so that we didn’t go into the water. There was a twisty and turny bit so you had to be good at turning to get past and then there was a hill that went straight down so that you could get lots of speed.

We also went to the adventure park. There was a game where you had to pass the tennis ball along to get to the slide. The person who didn’t have the tennis ball was the only one who could move. There was also a game with someone in the middle of the circle and they were counting down and you had to go hide. They would count down for one minute and then you had to get into the circle without the person seeing you.

Another activity today was called Pizza Box. It was a huge tall pole and we had to climb up it, four of us in one of the groups managed to get to the top. You could stand on the ledge or sit on it. If you fell off you got to dangle in the air.

At the nightline we had to have blindfolds on and we played some games to get used to the blindfolds on. We went on an actual walk and we got to do an obstacle course. We had to go through the giants mouth and we couldn’t see what we were doing, all we had was a rope to hold on to.

For dinner tonight there was sweet and sour pork, chicken korma and a vegetarian sweet potato and bean chilli. They were yummy.

After dinner we went bowling and people got one round. If you got a strike you only went once. It was really fun and we got to have our slushies.

We hope you have been enjoying our blog posts, please leave us a little comment and let us know how you all are.

Day 2 at Lendrick Muir

Day 2 has been very busy for us all and we have taken part in lots of different activities. Below are just some of the things that we have enjoyed today.

Some of the groups went to Bushcraft where we had to build fires with cotton wool, vaseline and sticks. We had to use the strikers to get a spark. Then we made bread over our fires. We used flour, water, sugar and cinnamon, some of us even added chilli.  We recommend keeping an eye on your bread when you are doing this or it might get burnt, some of ours did. After we cooked our bread we played a game of camouflage. Camouflage was when we had to go and hide in the forest. Every time they did a countdown we had to go and touch the person’s shoulder and then hide. Each time we had to hide we got less time to do it. If someone saw you, you were out.

The light blue, green, purple and black groups went to the King Swing. We got pulled up on the swing by the other members of the team. We got to go as high as we wanted to, then we pulled the rope and we went flying. The King Swing made some of us feel like a bird. It was great. The best day ever because on the King Swing we got to go higher and higher off the ground. When we pulled the rope and we got to go WEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

The red, orange and purple groups went to archery today. We had to play a game called pizza on the target. Depending on what colour you got it decided what type of topping you could have. If your arrow ended up in the grass you got salad. A bullseye would get you cheese. Lots of bullseyes got you a cheese pizza.

For lunch we had the option of rolls with ham, cheese, tuna or salad. We also had juice or water, fruit and crisps.

The green, purple and silver groups did an activity called the nightline. You had to do everything blindfolded, but we can’t reveal too much about it as some people have still to do it. Some of the challenges were really hard and we’ll tell you more when we get home on Friday.

The green, orange, light blue and red groups did the trail bikes too today. We went with Kat to the skills course first and then we went through the forest.

Tonight we are going to be doing a Murder Mystery, before our movie and bed.

We will be in touch tomorrow to tell you more about our adventures.

Day 1 of Lendrick Muir

We started today with a reflection time in our colour groups. The reflection time was about resilience. This afternoon we did team challenges in the woods and the light blue team won.  We got to do the rocket launch, to see how far our rocket could go with air and water. The winning  combination was 20 percent water and the rest was air. The sandwiches for lunch were very good. We went on a tour of Lendrick Muir and we got to see all the fun activities that we are going to be doing this week.  After the tour we got to do a scavenger hunt. Between our activities we got to have a break for a snack. One of our biggest challenges today was to make our own bed. We got a choice of different things for dinner. We could choose between sausage rolls or chicken goujons. There was also a veggie burger option. Tonight we went on the night walk and we had a campfire, where we toasted marshmallows. We are now going to settle down to watch our movie before heading to bed.

Good night from P7.
