P1hm 23.9.18

We have had a very busy few weeks continuing to learn to recognise and write lots of new sounds and numbers.   In P.E we are continuing with our Body Moves which also helps to improve our listening skills.  In the afternoons we are continuing our topic called All About Me.  We are learning all about our 5 senses.  We had lots of good ideas and questions around this topic! We have been on listening walks outside, where we listened to the wind blowing through the trees and collected interesting items such as acorns, sticks, grass and leaves to touch and build with.  In class, we have explored our sense of smell where we had to guess what the scent was from covered tubs!  We did not like the coffee smell but we did like the smell of the baby bath liquid!

We have learnt:

Alexis – p, s, r and ants on my arm song

Emily – I have been learning about pupil council

Cameron – how to draw letters

Freya – how to catch numbers with the fishy game

Cole – I like doing the numbertalks

Jax – copying numbers

Craig – penguin one

Sienna – how to do numbers

Dylan – we have been learning about senses

Katie – I have been learning my letters

Sam – playing

Erin – lots of letters

Freddy – how to play with my friends

Ruby – how to do maths

Daniel – I have learnt about school and all the different classes

Ollie – numbers and how to write them

Isaac – we have had lots of activities to do

Fern – finding things like letters in the sand

Ibrahim – numbers

Primary 1hm

Welcome families to our P1hm blog! We have had a fantastic start to our first couple of weeks at school, getting to know each other and our classroom. We have had a lot of new routines to learn and we are quickly becoming more independent! In numeracy we had a number hunt in our classroom, practised ordering numbers 1 to 10 and practised counting forwards and backwards. In Literacy we have learnt about the sounds a, t, i and s and have been doing lots of play activities to develop our fine motor skills. During the afternoons we have been playing freely within the classroom and following our ideas related to school and ‘All about me’. So far, we have been making paper doll cut-outs of people in our school, drawing maps of our school and learning about the jobs other adults do in our school.  Mrs Stewart came to visit us to talk about her job and we have been on a tour of the school as well.  Here are some photographs of our classroom and some of our comments about our first couple of weeks:
