P1j Blog It! 6.9.19

Welcome to our first blog! We have all settled in very well in our new Primary 1 classroom. We have been learning all about life in school and have been getting to know our classroom routines. We have started learning different sounds in literacy (a, t, s, i, and p). We have also been listening to the number zoo stories in numeracy. We know all about penguin one, ticklish two, butterfly three and feathery four! We have been practising writing the sounds we have learned and the numbers 1 – 4. Primary 1 have been learning all about our school and had lots of great suggestions about what we could find out about our school.

We would like to share with you what we have enjoyed about school so far:

Charlie – I like drawing things and colouring them in.

Caitlin – I like cutting out.

Aleena – I like drawing and cutting.

Cole – I like playing on the bikes in the playground.

Aria – I like drawing and doing ‘p’.

Keeva – I like painting and the puppies in the library.

Grace – I like ‘s’ for snake.

Kasey – I like playing with story dices.

Olivia – I like finding the letters in the sand.

Robyn – I like playing with number ducks and magnets in the water.

Millie – I like playing with Keeva in the playground.

Mace – I like playing with Sam outside.

Sam – I like penguin one.

Lewis – I like doing the puzzles.

Archie – I like playing at the water.

Riley – I like playing ladybird spots on the smartboard.

Daniel – I like playing with my friends.

Antoni – I like learning about feathery four.

Blair – I like writing the number 4.

Miss Johnstone and P.1j

Primary 2 have been busy this term in literacy where we have been working on using adjectives in our writing and have been describing characters and settings. We have also been practicing how to spell tricky words and have been learning about ‘magic e’ and split digraphs in spelling.

In numeracy, we have been working on developing our mental math strategies to add and subtract numbers. We have also been creating analogue clocks in mathematics and are getting more confident at telling the time at o’clock and half past.

In PE we have been enjoying spending time outdoors where we are learning about different aspects of tennis. We have also been practicing our dribbling skills in football.

Also, we have been learning about the Caribbean in our topic and have started creating beautiful artwork using water paints and oil pastels. We hope you like them! We have enjoyed learning about the differences between the UK and the Caribbean and are interested in finding out about the animals that live there.

Best wishes,

P.2 Team

P.2 Blog Update!

In P.2jm and P.2cw we have been working hard to learn our lines for P.2 – 4 show on the 13th of March! We have been spending time practicing ours songs and learning the dances to go along with these.

In topic, we have been having lots of fun! We have been becoming Knights by creating swords, shields and armour. We have also been looking at the structure of a castle and designing our own castles inspired by the work of artist Paul Klee.

We have been busy in numeracy learning our 2 and 5 times tables by looking at different strategies such as grouping or arrays. In maths, we have been looking at 3D shapes and how many faces these shapes have. We also built our own 3D shapes using nets.

In literacy, we are still reading our non-fiction books and finding out interesting facts each week! We have also been looking at putting words into alphabetical order.

Both P.2jm (19th of March) and P.2cw (5th of March) have a trip to Edinburgh Castle organised. We are really looking forward to this fun and exciting day so we can learn more about our topic! Forms for this will be given out this week.

Thanks for reading!
