4.12.19 BLOG IT! P4M

Good afternoon everyone,

It is December already and P4M would like to share what we have been learning recently.

Jessica D would like to tell you about our new Scottish country dance we have learned called strip the willow! We have been practising for a couple of weeks now.

William would like to tell you about the poems we have been writing.  Today we learned about shape poems and William enjoyed the freedom this gave him.  Maxim explored two different types, one which meant changing the shape of the word to match the meaning and the other was fitting your poem into a shape.  Ana would like to tell you about the rhyming poems we recently wrote and she feels this has helped her with her spelling.

Callum R has been learning about compliments through our Jigsaw lessons.  This is when you say something nice to someone.  In Jigsaw we have also been learning about bullying.  Lucas would like to tell you that bullying is something that happens more than once.

Erika would like tell you about food chains.  The plants are food for small animals and the small animals are food for the bigger animals.

Oakley has been learning about commas.  Here is a sentence that uses them.  Oakley added in the comma.  The cat had long fur, golden eyes and a bushy tail.

Carmen would like to tell you about the silent disco we are going to today (in 28 minutes).  It is going to be silent because we will be wearing headphones and people will dance along to three different tracks.  Callum S and Lewis would like to tell you that we have won the GOLD SPORT award for our school and this is why we have been rewarded with our silent disco.

Lucy would like to tell you about the French weather games we made.  We took them down to P3 to help them learn their weather words.  We wrote instructions on how to play them and created the boards.

Evan would like to tell you about the ‘ow’ spelling pattern we learned.  It is used in know and window.

Alana would like to tell you about how we have started learning about area in Maths.  We were calculating the area of a shape in cm2.

Ethan would like to tell you about our number talks.  We have been learning two strategies.  We looked at adding up to help with subtraction and now we are finding tens to help us with addition.

Eden would like to tell you about the new member of our class.  Last year we had an elf called Holly and this year we have an elf called Noel.  He has been leaving us some chocolates however hasn’t come out of his door yet.  Aiden would like to tell you that he has been leaving us letters, even responding to Carmen’s letter.  He has been leaving raffle tickets in our jar and hasn’t been playing with the glitter yet.

Thank you and we hope you have a wonderful countdown to Christmas!

P4M BLOG IT 14.11.19

Hello everyone,

time for an update from P4M.

Eden would like to tell you that the Christmas preparations are underway and we created some Christmas Candles for our class banner.

Lucy would like to tell you about the Turkeys we made.  We made them to celebrate Thanksgiving.

Carmen would like to tell you about our Christmas enterprise project.  We will be selling Melted Snowman bottled water… watch this space.  We are keen to let you know that any water bottles should be reused or recycled.

William would like to tell you about our Assembly.  To finish it off we have been learning the American National Anthem.  Evan has been enjoying this part and we discussed how American’s take great pride in their national anthem.

Jessica D would like to tell you about our money books.  Each day, we budget £1.00 in expenses for our chair, table, electricity and our imaginary pension.  Maxim would like to tell you that the daily salary is £24.60 and we can buy things with money that we save such as buying the teacher’s chair or desk for a lesson.

Ana would like to tell you about our music education.  We have learned about rhythm, pitch and beat.

Erika would like to tell you about numeracy.  We have been learning to add up to find change.  Erika knows that we have also linked this to our daily number talks.

Alana would like to tell you about our class novel.  She has really been enjoying the Christmasaurus and the Winter Witch.  Lewis would like to tell you how we linked this to our writing.  We imagined that the Christmasaurus was spotted flying over London and we created a newspaper article.

Callum S has been learning the ‘y’ spelling pattern.  It sounds like an ‘i-e’ or ‘igh’ sound sometimes.  An example of this would be the word reply.

Ethan would like to tell you about Benchball.  P4M had a mini tournament.  Aiden knows that you are only allowed to use 4 passes.  You get a point if you pass to your goalkeeper.

Jake would like to tell you about our latest Jigsaw lesson.  We made hands to show that we need to stamp out bullying and gave suggestions on what to do if we or someone else were being bullied.  There is always a helping hand available.

Thank you and we look forward to seeing you at our assembly next week.

Kind regards,

Miss MacKenzie and P4M

Good afternoon everyone,

4M would like to share our learning with you.

Lucas would like to tell you about Diwali.  We were learning about Diwali because it’s part of our new topic.  We learned about Lakshmi, Rama and Sita. Lewis enjoyed learning about this story.  Lucy knows that Diwali is a festival celebrated in India and around the world and Maxim knows that it is a Hindu festival.  We looked at different Hindu traditions to celebrate Diwali and we designed our own Mehndi patterned hands.  Gracie enjoyed creating these patterns.  Carmen would like to tell you that the class voted and we named our topic, ‘Food and Fun’.

Eden would like to tell you about today’s Jigsaw lesson.  We were discussing how families are the same and how families can be different.

Aiden would like to talk about our spelling.  He has been learning to spell words correctly and he was learning the split i-e vowel diagraph.

Callum R has been learning about 5 minute time intervals in time and counting in 5’s helps you with this! Evan would like to tell you that we have been learning about AM times and PM times.

Ana would like to tell you about Problem Solving.  We have been breaking problems down to make them easier to solve.

Jake would like to tell you about PE with Mrs Howard.  Jake has been passing the ball within his team.  Baili was playing a game with a toy bowling pin where you had to spin it and then tag someone with a ball.

Jessica D would like to tell you about the Scottish Country Dancing.  We have been practising the Dashing White Sergeant and Gay Gordons.

Through our numeracy we have been learning about money.  Alana would like to share that we have been learning about counting coins. Erika had to choose a cupcake case and take some fake money and try to make the total that was written inside the case.

Thank you for reading,
