P5mw Learn it! Log it! Blog it!

Welcome back to our school blog!

P5mw have been learning about natural disasters. In particular, we have been looking at volcanoes and how they erupt as well as what the biggest eruption has ever been (Indonesia).  Also, we have been looking at how they start and how hot they are. We also looked at tectonic plates and how they fight against each other and this pressure causes earthquakes.

In brass, we have been learning how to blow up balloons to help us use instruments such as the trombone, French horn, clarinet and the trumpet.

In PE, we have been doing gymnastics and learning new stances such as back to back straddle as well as creating obstacle courses and playing games as part of a cool down.

In problem solving we have been using spaghetti and bread to create free-standing towers. We had to be careful and construct them with care and creativity. Our class winners were Iyla and Sophie who managed to reach 52cm!

In music, we have been learning about the Swedish band ABBA and in particular the song Mamma Mia. We even practised some sign language.
