P7hs have had a very busy week…
Numeracy
In Numeracy the Numeracy Ninjas got new maths Fireman books which had real life maths problems. These problems were number related which firefighters would do in real life. We had to investigate a rota and storyline and read a timetable. We worked together to solve it!
Mr Muller taught the Algebros how to calculate 5% and 2% of an amount. He taught the Mathletes how to find 10% of an amount. We learned it is important to always find 10% of an amount because it is easier to find 10% first and then calculate a different amount.
Literacy
In grammar we learned about different types of pronous. We can now uplevel our writing with a mix of pronouns.
In writing we had write a diary entry about either a school day, a happy day, a sad day, Christmas day or a day from the long weekend. We used past experiences and made sure our work was written in the past tense and in chronological order. Mrs Hastings loved reading them! 🙂 With Mr Muller we rearranged pancake instructions into chronological order and the Acrostic group had to try and include adverbs in our writing.
This week we also took part in a food technology lesson. We were making pancakes but we were just given ingredients and had to cook the pancakes with the frying pan. We worked in groups of three. 🙂
Futsal
In Futsal we played King/Queen of the ring and done a mix of games. We also played numbers. In both of these games we had to kick the other persons futsal out of the perimeter or score a goal by hitting the bench. It was lots of fun showcasing our skills.
