P6 Learning!

Maths:

In maths we have been learning about quadrilateral shapes and 3D shapes. We have investigated the properties of these shapes e.g. vertices, faces, edges.  – Ewan

We got to make our own 3D shapes out of paper. I tried to make a hexagonal prism. – Ben

Literacy:

In reading we have been reading our own personal reading books. We read by ourselves for 30 minutes; I am reading a non-fiction text about broomsticks and balloons. – Anthony

We have been learning all about nouns. We have learned about pronouns, proper nouns and everyday common nouns. We have completed textbook work where we had to identify and use them in a sentence. – Josh

In writing we have learned about personification. Personification is when you give an object a human quality. An example would be: the wind whistled. – John and Amy

RME:

During RME lessons we have been making powerpoints about important Christian figures. – India

Topic:

In topic we have been learning more about space and some of us were using the internet to research hidden planets in the solar system. – Brooke

In topic we were making space helmets. Firstly we sketched the design in our IDL jotters and wrote a list of equipment/resoucres and materials needed. Secondly, we made our designs come to life using the materials we had written down. My helmet was made out of an Easter egg box. – Jay

P.E.:

In P.E. we have taken part in Olympic game sports. We did shotput, long jump and javelin. My favourite was javelin. – Jackson

In Basketball we have been practising our dribbling skills. To dribble correctly you need to use the tips of your fingers and not the palm of your hand. – Michael

We also learned how to shoot layups, aim and not to double dribble. – Anthony

We look forward to the next few weeks.
