P1c First Blog of 2019

Hello. Welcome back everyone. P1c has a great start to the new year and last week they quickly got back into the swing of things and learned another new sound. We learned the ‘th’ sounds and made thistle pictures to help us remember.

In numeracy we are working on understanding of subtraction and have a few new games to learn to play in class to do this as well as a few songs.

Our new Interdisciplinary learning topic is a ‘Transport’ topic.

Rohan: I liked going it  in the van  and we saw a red thing  inside.

Jamie: I liked playing with cars.

Summer: I liked sorting the transport pictures in order. We hadhot air baloon first, then the first plane, then helicopter, then a jet, then a space rocket.

Zoe: I really liked making the hot air balloon.

Cara: I liked doing take- away in numeracy.  10 take away 1 equals nine.

Jensen: We learned ‘ng’ sound.

Ben: We have been measuring the long truck.

Maisie: I liked ordering the flying pictures.

P2 Learn it! Log it! Blog it!

This week we have been learning about many new and exciting things. In topic, we have begun our Knights and Castles topic which we are really excited about because we are leanrning about all the different roles within the castles that people held.

In numeracy, we have been learning how to multiply by 2 and we have been looking at different ways of understanding the 2 times tables. We hope to use our knowledge of multiplying by 2 to improve our mental maths and problem solving skills.

P2C/W have their assembly on Friday 25th January in the main hall at 9am.

P7 have their enterprise initiative this Friday (18th Jan) and P2 children have been invited along. Please provide children with some loose change for Friday if possible.

Best wishes,

P2 team.

Update 15.1.19

Happy New Year everyone.  P3M would like to update you with our learning since we returned from the holidays.

Maxim has enjoyed playing the game, Around the World, to help us with remembering our times tables facts.  Baili has enjoyed working on his times tables and division and he doesn’t think they are scary anymore.  Ana knows that you can work out division facts if you know your times tables by switching it round.  Here is an example…2×6=12 so 12/2=6 (we don’t have a division sign on the laptop!)

Eden was building electric circuits and we have been exploring how energy is produced in wind turbines.  Ethan enjoyed making our own wind turbines out of paper and straw.  Jake enjoyed taking these outside so we could test which way the wind was blowing to make our turbines spin.

Lauren has been learning how to say our favourite colours in French and colours which we dislike.

Carmen has been enjoying Jigsaw time and working on her dreams and goals.  We had a warm up game which involved passing the keys round.  Our goal was to get them round our circle without making a sound.  Then our goal was made harder when we had to do the same thing in less than a minute.  We know that reaching our goals may be hard but we have to persevere.

In PE, we have started a gymnastic block and we have put ourselves into teams.  William knows we are working together to win points and we will be making a group gymnastic routine.

Jaksen has been enjoying working on his handwriting and thinks he is getting better.

Aiden has enjoyed maths where we have been looking at 3D shapes.  Ana knows that a 3D shape has length, breadth and height.  Gracie knows that 3D shapes have faces, Maxim knows that some shapes have vertices and Erika knows that they have edges.

Thank you,

P3
