This week some children have chosen to further explore the concept of outer space where lots of pictures were made of the planets, stars and the moon. The children have also enjoyed playing in our space rocket and having fruit rockets for snack! The idea of space has taken us back to thinking about the concept of ‘Dark’. Our children had the opportunity to re-visit the talking tub and through using the floor book, identified some new ideas- ‘What can help us keep safe in the dark?’ The ideas of torches, reflective jackets, street lights were just some of the ideas. We will continue to build on these lines of thinking in our activities next week.
We have continued to practise our songs and words for the nativity. Our percussion instruments are also in the nursery and the children have been playing along with parts of our songs. Please continue to practise any spoken parts with the children. We will be starting to organise the costumes. The majority of costumes are already in school and we will send out a letter to any roles that may need a specific item of clothing to be brought from home.
Out in the garden, the children have been enjoying experimenting with different materials in our mud kitchen. We have also been exploring dams through filling piping with stones and watching to see how much water passes through. We are hoping to design a wall mounted science station for investigating water flow.
We have also been really busy with creating our Christmas art for the big gym hall. The children chose to design Olaf from Frozen. We used lots of cotton wool, glitter, recycled shredded paper and felt.
We have also started to prepare for Road Safety week with children using the road signs whilst playing on the bikes and scooters. We will be using the floorbook to further share our ideas.

•ALL clothing and footwear should be clearly labelled as we have had a few items of clothing and footwear being mixed up.
