PEEP- home learning

Januarys pack is all about making and playing with puppets easily, using junk and things you can find around your house. Puppets are great to help us sing-along to our favourite songs/rhymes or tell a story or role play.
Cody has been making his own puppets and has included a fantastic story/poem about his monster and spider which he has made.

Scottish week

This week the topic in the nursery will be Robert Burns and all things Scottish which will finish on Thursday with a Burns Supper. At the Burns Supper the children will be eating Haggis (vegetarian), tatties and neeps followed by shortbread and a little drink of sugar free Irn Bru. If you would prefer your child not to have the drink please inform a member of staff when dropping your child off at nursery (milk and water will also be available as normal).

The children will also be bringing home 2 simple Scottish poems to learn. We would appreciate if you would go over these with your child at home so we can recite them at the Burns Supper of Thursday.

Last week in nursery we were focusing on the nursery routines and Golden Rules. All the children were encouraged to self serve their snack developing their fine motor skills as the used the different utensils to do so. They were also exploring volume as the served their soup and poured their drink. They are all becoming more independent at doing this.

Big Bedtime Read

We have noticed that our Big Bedtime Read has not been so popular recently. We have decided to change our organisation to see if that helps. We are making it much simpler to take/return books.

There is a stand in the corridor area with the Big Bedtime Read book bags. Please help yourself to a bag. When you return the bag simply replace it with another one. It is up to you to keep an eye on the number of the bag so you keep getting fresh books.

Hope this helps to increase the uptake. We all know how important reading a bedtime story is in promoting a love of books and developing early reading skills.

World Book Day

Unfortunately we missed celebrating World Book Day as it was one of our snow days. We have decided to celebrate one week on instead. This week we are looking at the contents of the Book Bags which will be gifted to our ante pre school children on Thursday 8th (one week later than planned). Our pre school children will receive a Ziggy road safety book so everyone can get reading.

PEEP coming soon………

After our successful introduction to a PEEP group last term we have decided to offer more. This time we have a morning session and an afternoon session. So if your child is a nursery morning session they can come along to the afternoon PEEP time and if your child goes to the afternoon nursery session then the morning PEEP is for you.

As usual there will be lots of activities, songs and a story to enjoy with your child. See the attached poster for more information.Peep group poster 5.2.18

Let someone in the nursery team know if you are thinking about it so we can prepare a warm welcome.
