Blurb!

In P5/6, the Bruce reading group are reading “The Demon Headmaster” – a book all about a spooky headteacher…

He has taken to hypnotizing the children and teachers!! We decided to write a new blurb for the back cover to encourage other people to read this spook-tastic and hypnotic tale…oooo-oooo-ooooooooh!!!!! CIMG0072 CIMG0073 CIMG0074 CIMG0075 CIMG0076 CIMG0077 CIMG0078

Maths Activities

We have a new Maths Station in the class. We can choose an activity from here when we are finished our work. Today we were building number recognition towers, practising number formation, sorting the dinosaurs into doubles, matching numbers with the spots on the dice and playing a game on the laptop where we had to find the missing number. Have a look!

Show and Tell

This morning we had our very first Show and Tell session in the class.

Before we started, the children talked about what would make a good audience. Yousef, Cameron, Milly, Cara, Sam, Lucy and Aiden thought it was important to sit beautifully, clap when the person speaking has finished, sit still and don’t move about, don’t talk, don’t shout out, and put up your hand when you have a question.

We now know a bit more about wrestlers and their names, and what a doctor uses the different things in their bag for and what they are called. We saw some lovely holiday photos too!

Well done to everyone, especially as you were the first group to do this. We will find out on Monday whose turn it is next week.

Here are some pictures for you to enjoy.

Designing flags and sporting outfits for the Olympics

CIMG0059 CIMG0060 CIMG0061

We learned this week that the Olympic Committee have allowed a refugee team to take part in this year’s Olympic Games. We thought this was a great idea and we decided to design a flag and a national costume for the team. Here are our brilliant designs. What do you think? Please ask us about them if you see us.

Ellen was so busy helping the P3/4 class this week that she only had time to design a flag but she did a beautiful job. Well done, everyone!

Materials Challenge

As part of our new Materials topic we had a challenge this afternoon. We had to use junk materials brought in from home to make bugs and beasties which represent our reading groups. We looked at the materials wall to remind ourselves of different materials and their properties. Would we need materials that were soft, strong, hard; made of plastic or paper or cardboard?

Each group had a Materials Manager who had to choose what we needed. We were able to use paint and glue as well.

Here are some pictures of us. Mrs Sutherland says sorry for anyone who came home displaying an over enthusiastic use of paint.

Tomorrow we will look at what we made and talk about what went well and what we could do to improve.
