Fractions
Friday 20th May 2016
P4/5 have been learning about different fractions this week…here is what the children had to say…
Ashleigh “I can work out mixed number fractions by counting how many whole ones can be made and how many are left over.”

Eilidh “I have learned about equivalent fractions and how to convert a decimal into a fraction.”
Meghan “I have learned that a sixth means one whole one cut into 6 equal parts. Like in a pizza.”
Kalley “I know how to find a fraction of a number now and I can use a fraction wall to work out equivalent fractions.”
We have worked hard on other things too…..
Kiara ” I have enjoyed learning the different spellings for the oa sound (oe, ow, oa, 0-e).”
Finlay “I have worked hard learning my lines for the school show. We have had rehearsals this week for the first scene for ‘Shakespeare on Trial’ and we have also had fun learning some of the accompanying songs.”

Tales of the Caribbean
We started a new topic in P5/6 this week – Caribbean Islands. We are going to be learning all sorts of information about the Caribbean. We started with a whole class carousel activity and then afterwards decided for which of the islands we are each going to be making a factfile. Everyone is super excited about this topic – we are simply bursting with ideas for study!
