Primary 1 Literacy

It was a very exciting day in Primary 1S today as we did our very first piece of work in our new Literacy jotters. First of all we learned about the word “Literacy”. Then we talked about our favourite part of the story of The Rainbow Fish. We explained our understanding of what it means when something is a favourite, by talking about our favourite sweets, colours and our favourite teacher. (Mrs Sutherland told us who that might be!)

We hope you like our work. We walked around the class and had a look at each other’s jotters, then we each chose our favourite!

Getting ready for Gym

PE in P1M

PE in P1M

We have impressed Mrs McKay when getting ready for Gym lessons.  We learned how to dress our chairs to try to keep all of our clothes together.

Some children are still finding T-shirts a bit fiddly-encouraging your child to unbutton and button T-shirts at home would be a big help!  Some children are asking for help when their clothes are inside out, perhaps they could work on this at home too.

Have a lovely long weekend, see you all on Wednesday.

Under The Sea, Under The Sea …

Primary 1 have been listening to the story of The Rainbow Fish. We have made our own under the sea pictures. We talked about what other sea creatures we know about, then we watched a film which showed us how to draw the outlines. Mrs Frater and Mrs Sutherland then drew some starfish, crabs and jellyfish on the board for us to look at. We decided that Mrs Frater is better at drawing than Mrs Sutherland!

Have a look at some of our undersea art. Can you guess what we used to colour?

Term 1 – Week 4

We have been enjoying baking scones for our parents and carers to enjoy on our Open Evening.  We were reading the recipe with an adult, and taking turns to carefully measure the ingredients.  We counted how many scones we could fit onto our trays.  Fantastic counting!!!

Our children went on a learning walk around the school garden  with Mrs Baird and discovered our apple trees.  The children were very excited to see beautiful apples on the branches.  They collected some ripe apples for our nursery to show to their friends.

Our morning children have enjoyed dressing up as Princes and Princesses and they decided that they needed crowns.  With help from Mrs Nicholls we looked at beautiful crowns on the internet to see how we could make some in our nursery.  We have had beautiful Princes, Kings and Princesses in our morning session this week.
