P6 Lendrick Muir – White Group

WOW, that was amazing!  If you have siblings that get on your nerves all the time, Lendrick Muir is totally for you! It’s also full of fun and amazing activities.

Archery

One of the activities that we did was Archery. We were told rules and advice for firing the arrow. The first step was to pick up the bow and turn it like a table. The next step was to pick up the arrow and slot on the bow but make sure the odd flyer is facing the sky. Then put every finger except your pinkie and your thumb on the string.  1, 2, 3, BULLS-EYE!

Low Ropes

Our next activity is Low Ropes. We had so much fun climbing, crawling and sliding. As soon as you went in the door there was a climbing wall that you had to climb up to get to a platform. On the climbing wall there were three different levels. An easy level, a medium level and a hard level. Then we crossed a bridge.  It was hard for some of us, some of us even faced our fears. After we crossed the bridge there were different ways to get down, most people chose the mine shaft – it was a  small tight tunnel with obstacles there a seesaw plank, stringy spider webs (that you got tangled up in), and camouflage nets. There were different obstacles within the course.  There were bridges, nets and a climbing, stretching and balancing zone. There was also a fireman pole and a slide…

<- Make sure you get your feet ready to step off the slide otherwise you’ll end up like this! Someone learned that the hard way.

Learning in P1M

Our maths work this week is all to do with weight.  We are learning how to weigh objects using non standard units and use the language of weight.  How do we know if something is heavier or lighter? What happens to the scales?  What does it mean if the scales are equal?  Ask us-we know the answer!

NYCoS-We were very lucky to work with Mrs Gray today.  In P1M we have sung throughout the year in class and with Miss Bain. Today we learned some new NYCoS songs.  We listened carefully, tried our hardest to sing in tune and keep a steady beat.  Over the next few weeks we will continue to use NYCoS songs and games to develop our skills in Music.  We’ve even been singing when we’ve been doing the register.

We have been learning about weather in primary 1. One of our homework tasks was to make a musical instrument which represents a type of weather.  It has been fantastic to see how creative the boys and girls have been. We’ve had wind chimes, rain sticks, storm drums and snow sticks.  Next steps in our learning will be to create weather tools to measure different types of weather.  We are planning to make these in class. Parents beware-we might have weather forecasters or meteorologists of the future!

Welcome to our new blog page!

Hello everyone, welcome to the brand new Rainbow Room blog page, where you can catch up on all the latest happenings from our lovely groups!  For the last couple of weeks we have been learning about plants and growing and Mr Henderson (Mrs Henderson’s very kind husband!) has gifted us enough tomato plants to have a tomato plant each to look after.  We have repotted them into bigger pots, given them a cane for some support and have transferred them into our fantastic bottle green house.  We have promised to water, look after and talk to our plants every time we see them.  Here are some pictures of our plants, more updates will follow!
