Additional tasks for today…

1. Read your favourite story book and act it out to whoever you live with. Can they work out which story you are acting out? Remember you can’t say the title of the book or the names of any of the characters!

Remember next Monday and Tuesday are bank holidays so there will be no online learning for the whole school.  Wednesday- Friday the whole school will be completing some internet safety tasks. Have a look on Wednesday morning to see what you have to do!

Literacy- L.I. I can write direct speech

Success Criteria

I can write the speech from my comic strip into direct speech.

I can remember to follow the rules of direct speech.

I can write in neat, joined handwriting.

Today I’d like you to rewrite the speech from your comic strip into direct speech- with speech marks, in your jotter. Remember there are quite a few rules when we use speech marks- remind yourself of them here punctuating_direct_speech Last time, the main mistake most of us made was forgetting that when there is a new speaker you start a new line!

Numeracy- L.I. I can divide using a real life example.

Today I’d like you to bird spot out of your window and count how many you can see. You could identify which birds you have seen too! Then divide this by the amount of trees you can see out of your window. I can include some onomatopoeia.

Numeracy- L.I. To solve and create division word problems

Success criteria

I know that to divide is to share into equal groups.

I know how to divide using arrays.

I can use concrete materials (e.g. pens, stones, leaves etc) or draw an array  to solve the problem.

I can create my own division word problem.

Step 1: Solve these division problems using concrete materials (e.g. pens, stones etc) or by drawing an array.

1. Miss Hall has 30 pencils for her classroom. There are 6 tables of children. How many pencils does each table get?
2. Tom bakes 20 cupcakes for his party. 4 children come to his party. How many cupcakes do they get each? (Don’t forget to include Tom)!
3. Sarah get 3 large pizzas for her sleepover. Each pizza has 8 slices. Altogether there are 6 children at the sleepover. How many slices of pizza will they get each?
4. Ahmed gets 60p pocket money each week which he shares with his two brothers. How much money do they get each?

Tricky bonus question! Jane had 1m of ribbon. She sews the ribbon around her square cushion. What length of ribbon is on each side of the cushion (in cm)? (This will have hard to draw an array for, I would draw the question so you can visualise it and then perhaps share ten sticks)

Step 2: Now, can you write your division word problems? Then take a photo of your questions and send it to one of your classmates (with adult help and permission). Can you tell them if they’ve got it right and if not explain why?! Can you be a wee teacher!?

Literacy- L.I. To draw and annotate my own comic strip

Success Criteria

I can draw a comic strip with 6 boxes.

I can think of my own storyline.

I can write the speech of the characters in speech bubbles.

I can use some onomatopoeia.

Design your own comic strip, here are some examples comic strip examples  record what the characters are saying in speech bubbles (you have 2 days to finish this and colour it in). Possible themes- lockdown, family life, pets, playing games,superheros etc. Add in some onomatopoeia- what’s that I hear you say?!
