Maths

French:

P2/3 w.c. 20/1/20

In Literacy this week, Primary 2 have been focusing on the ‘ou’ phoneme and Primary 3 have been focusing on the ‘ve’ phoneme. We have enjoyed learning our spelling words by doing partner dictations, cube spelling and pyramid spelling this week. In Mathematics, we have been learning about sharing amounts equally and also focusing on our number formation. For Topic this week, Hamish and his friends visited the Falkirk Wheel. We have discussed when it was built, what it is made from and how it works. In Art, we moved around stations and worked together to build our classroom Hoggle! All that is left to do is make the roof – it looks fantastic so far!

A fab day in P6

In the morning P6 had a visit from AnneMarie Allan, the author of our class novel, Charlie’s Promise. We were able to ask many questions about the book and the author’s past. We found out that the story was set in a real place and that some characters were based on her family.

We also had a visit from our Tiny Teacher. We can’t believe how much he has grown since we first met him near the start of this year.

P2/3 week beginning 13/1/20

What a fun week we have had! In Literacy, Primary 2 have been learning the ‘ow’ sound and Primary 3 have been learning the ‘ie’ sound. We have been doing this through sound bubbles, whiteboards, play dough, pyramid spelling and rainbow writing! In PE we were focusing on fitness. We rotated around 6 different stations and discussed our heart rates before and after. In Topic, we drew line drawings of Hamish and wrote adjectives around him. In partners we also drew a Hoggle! We really focused on the colours we were using. For our writing we looked at information reports. We discussed the 4 main parts and ensured we could put them in the correct order. Busy busy busy!

Welcome Back P2/3!

Our new topic for this term is Hamish McHaggis. On Thursday, a special letter appeared in the classroom with Hamish for us to read. Hamish and his friends live in the Highlands of Scotland and would like our help to explore other parts of Scotland. We wrote letters back to Hamish saying we would love to help him and told him one thing we would also like to find out about Scotland. In Literacy, we have been revising our common words and phonemes. We have been doing this by playing Hangman! This was lots of fun and providing challenge and enjoyment. In Maths, we have been revising the Days of the Week, number doubles, number words and addition up to 20.
