Writing

Our writing lesson today is to write a description of a character from a film or book. Choose a character that you know well and would be able to write in a lot of detail about. Think of adjectives to describe their appearance (what they look like), unique traits (what makes them special) where they live and anything else that you can think of that is interesting.

This lesson is in two parts.

Part 1

First you must plan your writing using the planning sheet as a guide to help you. Please use your jotter / paper / notebook for planning. Take notes for each part of your writing, write down good adjectives, interesting phrases and words you would like to use.

Remember when you are writing a description you need to structure your work. You need to include: a title, introduction , characteristics of your character and an evaluation.

Your planning sheet can be found below.

Part 2

Once you have planned your writing you can get started. You can write on paper, lined jotter or type your writing onto a word document.

Practise your times tables in different ways.

Write down the times tables that you need most practise with and recite them. Ask an adult / older sibling to test you. If you know all your tables well practise division facts for your tables instead. For example, instead of practising the 8 times table as 8×7=56, try and work out 56÷8 =?

Use ‘Hit the Button’ to practise your tables. Once again if you feel confident with your tables, try the division facts.

Lastly have a go at the daily 10 on the Topmarks website. You can choose which times tables you would like to practise. If you like a challenge, reduce the amount of seconds you have to answer the question and see how quick you can be!
