Rannoch News

Rannoch had a fabulous week….We enjoyed time in the sun on the Trim Trail and in the wonderful lights of the Sensory Room. We also worked hard on our letter formation and phonics…we focused on the ‘g’ and ‘e’ sounds. In Numeracy we learned about Number Bonds and counted up to 20.  We also painted with our hands and learned about what we do during the ‘day’ and what happens during the ‘night’ as part of our Topic focus. A super week!

Primary 5’s busy week

This week in Primary 5 we are having lots of fun and working hard too! Sport-wise we enjoyed a trip to the swimming pool and have been enjoying playing some team-building games in the sports hall.

In literacy we are enjoying our second Roald Dahl novel and will start our descriptive writing next week to describe one of his characters. Pupils have also settled well into their reading and spelling groups. In numeracy we are exploring times tables and counting in 25s and 100s on a number line. We have also learned how to say our birthday in Spanish.  Great work everyone!

A welcome return to P4

We are delighted to have our class back, we missed you all!

P4 have made a positive start to the new school year. We have spent lots of time reviewing our school values and ensuring we are following these and trying our best. We have settled into our new routines and working very hard already.

We have begun our new maths topic of place value. This year we are working with Hundreds, Tens and Ones, learning how to partition and  recognise greater and less than.

In RE we have been studying the incredible lives of some Saints who have their feast days in August. We were very interested to learn of St. Bernard and St. Rose of Lima.

We also made a start on our new IDL topic of Europe and we are looking forward to using maps and atlases to learn about the physical  continent  and to learn about the cultures  of some of the countries.

Primary 6 M are off to a flying start !

P6 M  have been busy getting back into all of our school routines . We have been creating our Class Charter.

We discussed the importance  of following our School Values and showing respect and kindness towards ourselves , our peers,  our school staff,  our families and our community.

Our SHANARRI Characters remind us of our rights and our needs for good health and  well being for both ourselves and others.

In PE we got off  to a flying start and really enjoyed being back at our sessions with Mrs McMaster. Wednesday is our PE day .

We decided that we want to learn more digital technology and have been spending time this  week looking at Microsoft Word and using that to create posters and for our class Space project ! Watch this space !

Primary 5 are smashing it!

Welcome back Primary 5 and what a first two weeks we are having! We are showing super listening skills and are embodying the school values. We are creating our class charter and have also been discussing why learning and taking pride in our work is so important.

For our class story this term we will focus on the works of Roald Dahl – we have already read The Magic Finger and are now reading Fantastic Mr Fox. In  our smaller reading groups we are learning to summarise, predict, clarify and question.

In numeracy we are focussing on the four operations with a focus on multiplication. This week we have learned how to make arrays and use multiplication grids.

We are also having lots of fun – we start the day with fun challenges, and are enjoying creative play. We have set up a Scotmid Shop in our creative corner and are setting up a football theme in our doll’s house. We are also looking forward to Football Mondays.

Primary 5 I’m so excited about the year ahead – I know you are going to smash it so go Team Primary 5!
