Primary 1

This week in Primary 1 we have been having fun 🤩 being rock 🎸 stars with Rookie Rockstars. We learned lots of new songs and dances as well as games and fun facts.

For some of us it was a bit loud to start with and it was very different to our usual learning but we all used our perseverance and we all tried our very best.

In class we had plated beanstalk 🌱 seeds, we have been looking after them in class and now it is time for them to go home. We are all proud of them and are looking forward to seeing them grow at home.

Have a lovely weekend ☺️

Primary 2

Primary 2 are now at the end of their volcano topic. As we are nearing the end of our topic, we were learning all about lava. We learned why it is the colour it is, how lava is formed and if rocks shoot out of it. We then created our own lava slime and wrote a procedure piece on how we made it 🟠

Primary 2 have engaged in Rookie Rockstars this week! We have had fun learning songs and preparing for our own concert. 🎸

This week primary 2 have also been preparing to showcase our learning of volcanoes in our assembly tomorrow morning! We hope to see our parents and careers there if you can make it along 🌋

Primary 1 Health Week Day 3 and Day 4

Another fun health week day !
We kicked off the day with a fun handball session with the Active Schools coordinator. We practiced lots of ball 🥎 skills and had fun playing the games.

We then  had a great gymnastics 🤸 session where we learned how to do forward and backward tumbles as well as lots of stretching.

Next up was the mini marathon, we all jogged round and counted how many laps we could do. We did this with P6R.

Sensory session was our next activity and we all had lots of fun trying lots of different things.

Have a lovely weekend 😀

Another fun filled day for P6R

This morning we kicked off our day with training to become buddies for the new Primary One children starting after the summer holidays. They’re learning how to be kind, responsible and supportive, helping our youngest pupils feel like they belong and feel safe in both of our schools. We’re proud of their enthusiasm and know they’ll make great role models.

Our first activity outside was Handball – another fabulous day made it so enjoyable as it wasn’t too hot out! We learnt new skills and played some games. Our friends from Ness class joined us also!

Before lunch we ran in our very own version of The London Marathon with our pals in P1 – great effort by all.

After lunch we completed some health week inspired posters and played team games with Ms. Lindsay and ended our day with a P.E. party!

Last day of health week tomorrow! 🙂

P4 health week day 2

Today we learned about different medicines and how they can help us to feel better and keep us healthy. We also learned about medicine safety and the importance of reading labels and only taking medicines that are for us. We had a fantastic football session learning to dribble, pass and shoot. We loved the game of football hungry hippos! The school nurses talked about healthy eating and teeth hygiene.
Another fantastic day.

Health week in P4

We had a fantastic start to our Health Week. Our day began with some hip hop dancing, we loved learning a dance to Beat It! By Michael Jackson. Then we had a lovely sunny walk to the bowling club in Polbeth. The men were so patient and helped to show us how to play. Some of us found the weighted ball very difficult to use. We all did manage to give it a go.  We loved our outdoor play in the trim trail and the s’mores , we had help from Mrs Watson and Miss Lindsay. They were delicious. We toasted the marshmallows over the fire pit and squished it between 2 chocolate digestives, yum! We learned about healthy eating,  different food groups and how they help our bodies. In the afternoon we had fun spectating the teachers verses pupils netball game and we all had an ice lolly to top the day off. We had an amazing day.

P5’s Trip to Loch Leven Castle

Primary 5 enjoyed a trip to Loch Leven Castle as part of our learning about Mary Queen of Scots.

Mary was imprisoned on the castle island for more than a year. Just like Mary, P5 boarded the boat for the journey across the loch to the island. We explored the castle tower and stood in the room where Mary was imprisoned and forced to abdicate the throne to her infant son. We also stood on the shore where Mary made her dramatic escape back to the mainland!

We visited the Glassin tower and its murky basements, visited the old kitchen and saw its food hatch to the dining area,  and climbed some spiral staircases to other secret rooms.

We took the Loch Leven Quiz and hunted around the castle and ruins to see if we could find the answers.

The island itself if a nature reserve, full of birds and we saw some herons and pheasants roaming the grounds.

After a return boat trip we visited the shop then strolled down the boardwalk for lunch in the sun next to the play park.

Everyone said they enjoyed the day! The weather made it really special too as there was not a cloud in the sky! Well done P5!

Primary 2

Primary 2 have had a busy but lovely week.

Park

We made the most of the lovely weather this week by taking Fred Frog to the park! We had so much fun and used our collaboration skills!

Healthy Menus

We used our new knowledge of the eatwell plate to discuss what makes meals healthy. We looked at the school’s lunch menu for the week and broke down each meal and decided what made it healthy. We then created our own menus, making sure we had a balanced diet.

Time

This week we continued to develop our knowledge of time in a real life context. We estimated and discussed time durations in our daily lives. We also engaged brilliantly in numeracy play and challenged ourselves!

Volcano Models

Continuing on with our volcano topic, we looked into the 3 types of volcanoes: shield, cinder cone, and composite. We then used clay to form our 3 different types of volcanoes! We are looking forward to painting these once they are dry!

(We also created volcanoes through our play using the construction blocks!)

Another successful day at camp!

Wow! What an amazing time we are having! A little rain this morning did not dampen our spirits and the sun didn’t take long to come out. Today we have successfully attempted the cat walk, leap of faith, archery, raft building, low ropes and night line. It’s all in a days work. We are looking forward to fishing tonight followed by Highland Games for our last night activities. Check out our photos.
