WOW  !  We found some gigantic footprints and a glitter trail on the floor, !   They led us to a letter …

The letter was from a friendly dragon.  He used to live in Fairyland, but it had disappeared and he was very sad.   He asked us if we could make him a Fairyland in our classroom.   We were very excited.

We decided to make a beanstalk for Jack as his had disappeared.  Our P7 Buddies helped us create it.

Another letter arrived from the friendly dragon.   He was sad as his castle had disappeared too., so we got to work on designing a castle for the dragon .

The dragon left us a gift – these amazing castle books. He says we can use them for our designs and drawings.

What will happen next ….. watch this space.

We did a dance for the St Mary’s Has Got Talent Show.  Here we are waiting for our turn to take part. We learned a lot of different dance moves and worked so  hard to remember them ! We were absolutely amazing !

Here we are taking part in Easter Bingo .   Our buddies helped us to find the numbers.

We had lots of activities at our Easter Fun week,   Here we are trying out lots of the fun games.

Just before Easter our gymnasts E and K were part of a team that went to a gymnastic competition with Mrs McMaster.   Here they are with their medals and certificates. Well done girls !

We had a great time swapping books on World Book Day.

We were given a voucher for a free book.    Don’t forget to use it 🙂

We enjoyed our trip to Edinburgh Castle.   We explored all of the different parts of the castle and had a great day !

On Tuesday P1M and our P7 Buddies had a great time making bird feeders and then taking them into the woods near the school to hang them up for the birds to eat.

What a fantastic time we had celebrating WORLD BOOK DAYon Thursday.    Here we are in our costumes and pyjamas .

This young chap celebrated his birthday too !

We took part in the Where’s Wally Search around the school.   We had to find pictures of Wally. They were all well hidden and we were excited when we found them.

We also had a great time reading with our P7 Buddies and enjoyed some yummy hot chocolate !

On Friday we were so excited when our parents came to school for the Sharing Our Learning morning,   We showed them some of the activities that we usually do during Maths time.  We followed our timetable  and completed them very well.  We were absolute superstars and made Mrs Moffat very proud.  Thank you to everyone who came along.

What a fabulous week !

Children’s Mentql Health Week was 5th to 11 February.

P1 M learned  how music can make us feel calm. excited , happy and sad.   We listened to some exciting music and showed off our dance moves then we listened to some very relaxing music and had some lovely chill time.

We practised listening to the sound of our breath to help  us relax and feel nice and calm.

This week we learned the story of Noah and the Ark and the song The Animals Went In Two by Two,

We have been very busy learning  a Scots poem – My Wee Rid Motor and a song -Heid , Shooders, Knaps and Taes this week .   We performed them at our Scots Poetry recitals.    We were all amazing and everyone won a special certificate for taking part.

P1 M have had another very busy week.

Our topic is’ Where we live’ so we have been learning about places in Scotland and about places in Polbeth .

Hamish Mc Haggis has been to Edinburgh so  we found out where he visited and used Google Maps to take a peek at where Hamish was.  He visited the castle and went to the Tattoo !

Here we are drawing our houses and painting models of them.

We are learning all about adding numbers together so we played Snakes and Ladders to help up count on and add.   It was great fun !

We also jumped around to the music, then we had to land on certain numbers.

At the end of our busy week we did some Mindfulness !  We really enjoyed listening to the music, watching the lights making gentle cloud shapes and relaxing our bodies.  We learned how nice it is to feel calm and relaxed.

P1 M have had a busy week learning about all things Scottish.   We have been listening to Scottish songs old and new, and learning a poem in Scots language.

We listened to a Hamish McHaggis story and learned about his  places he visitied in Scotland.   We found the places on a map, and we used Google Maps to find Polbeth and our school. We were amazed to see familiar buildings in Polbeth and Scotland.

Here we are drawing and colouring the characters in  the Hamish McHaggis  stories.     

Here we are enjoying haggis , neeps and tatties, shortbread and Irn Bru at our Burns Supper.  We scoffed the lot , then danced it off to The Red Hot Chilli Pipers music.

Last week we learned all about adding numbers together using Numicon.   We were all amazing !
