Primary 1 M another busy week !

P1 M have had another very busy week.

Our topic is’ Where we live’ so we have been learning about places in Scotland and about places in Polbeth .

Hamish Mc Haggis has been to Edinburgh so  we found out where he visited and used Google Maps to take a peek at where Hamish was.  He visited the castle and went to the Tattoo !

Here we are drawing our houses and painting models of them.

We are learning all about adding numbers together so we played Snakes and Ladders to help up count on and add.   It was great fun !

We also jumped around to the music, then we had to land on certain numbers.

At the end of our busy week we did some Mindfulness !  We really enjoyed listening to the music, watching the lights making gentle cloud shapes and relaxing our bodies.  We learned how nice it is to feel calm and relaxed.

” I like the relaxing” AB

“Listening to the sounds is good fun” JB

“I want to do the music again”

Have a lovely weekend everyone

P.1 M’s Burns Supper.

P1 M have had a busy week learning about all things Scottish.   We have been listening to Scottish songs old and new, and learning a poem in Scots language.

We listened to a Hamish McHaggis story and learned about his  places he visitied in Scotland.   We found the places on a map, and we used Google Maps to find Polbeth and our school. We were amazed to see familiar buildings in Polbeth and Scotland.

Here we are drawing and colouring the characters in  the Hamish McHaggis  stories.

Here we are enjoying haggis , neeps and tatties, shortbread and Irn Bru at our Burns Supper.  We scoffed the lot , then danced it off to The Red Hot Chilli Pipers music.

Last week we learned all about adding numbers together using Numicon.   We were all amazing !

Here are some photos from Christmas that you might like to see.

The Christmas Workshop was in full swing, and our busy elves were  working hard to make sure that our crafts were all finished for the Christmas Fayre on Saturday 2nd December in our school hall.

Come along and buy one of your little ones crafts, they had so much fun making them.

Scottish Book Week in P1 M.

P1 M had a brilliant time with their Buddies in P7  who were excellent in showing the P1’s how to play number games on laptops.  P7 were super when explaining the games and P1 had such a great time they are looking forward to meeting up again.

This week was Book  Week Scotland and P1 M received a free Book Bug Bag with books and pencils from The Scottish Book Trust.  Mums , Dad’s and Carers were invited into school to enjoy reading some of the books and join in with activities about the books.

The children then enjoyed hot chocolate and biscuits.  Thank you to the Scottish Book Trust for the wonderful gifts.

Some pupils in P1 M and P1S  joined in with Playdough Club .  They had great fun creating their own playdough, mixing it up , and talking about the colours, texture and the smell.

                  ,

Have a great weekend !

P1M’s fizzy and chilled week !

Primary 1 M  had a exciting time making ‘potions’ last week !   We all made sure to keep ourselves safe . We put on our safety glasses and listened carefully to the instructions.   We know that we must never touch liquids without an adult helping us.

We had great fun trying to find the skeletons in the sand !

We enjoyed using the laptops with our P7 Buddies.    They really helped us with our maths skills .   We are learning about one more than and one less than just now !

After a busy week we listened to some very relaxing music and watched the stars on the Smartboard.   We loved this and felt very chilled out afterwards.

P.1 M’s Spooky Halloween Week !

Primary 1 M have had a fun week doing lots of  spooky  Halloween activities .  Here we are painting pumpkin pictures.   We discovered that if you mix red and yellow paint you can make orange ,  and if you mix yellow and blue paint you can make green ! We loved colour mixing.

These are the stories that we listened to this week.   We were so good at listening carefully to the stories and then talking about our favourite parts.   Our teacher was so impressed !

In this activity we had to roll and shape the dough to create features for the witch’s face.  We had some great ideas and made funny shapes for the noses, eyes and mouths, and it was great for helping the muscles in our hands get stronger for writing.

Here we are with our painted pumpkins. They looked fantastic. Our teacher was so proud of us

.

We had to cut out the shapes for the pumpkin’s eyes, nose and mouth .   We made some funny pumpkin faces and practised our cutting skills .

Here we are doing some fun music and movement games and running from monsters that “smell like blue cheese “, yuk !

Here are our amazing costumes !  We were fantastic  !

At the party !

Time for party food !

What a great week we had !

P1 M’s Very Busy Week !

We drew some wonderful pictures of ourselves and we added lots of details.

Our Parents came along to “Share in Our Learning”  today .  We showed them how we read, write and make words.   We had fun showing them what Superstars we are.

We found ways of counting using Ten Frames.  We had to show lots of numbers and what they looked like arranged in different ways.

The Dental Nurse Lisa came in with Dragon to show us how to brush our teeth.   She said we should be brushing twice a day at home and once a day at school.  We said we would try very hard so that we had nice sparkly teeth.

We used Numicon to help us recognise numbers and we copied a picture , matching up the colours.

Another bust week. Well done to our P1 M Superstars ! *******

P1 M Superstars, Latest Adventures !

Another busy few days with the Superstars  in Primary 1 M.

We learned a new song ” If I were a butterfly “, we danced and made lots of actions to go with the song and we coloured some beautiful butterflies .

At Outdoor Learning we used natural materials to make numbers .   Can you spot them  in the pictures ?

At Read , Write Inc time we used sounds that we know to blend these together to make words.  Wow didn’t we do well !

We also had 3 ‘Star Writers’ who drew an amazing picture and were able to tell Mrs Moffat about it !

Primary 7 organised voting for House Captains and we had to go and cast our votes in their class.  It was fun.

Here we are in our ‘House’ Groups with our badges.

How smart are we !

Blue – St Andrew’s House,   Red – St Margaret’s House,                   Green  – St John Ogilvie and Yellow- St Ninian’s House

Have a good weekend everyone !
