Dear Parents,

Here’s an update on what we’ve been doing in P7A this week.

In Literacy we have continued our work on information reports and our class novel Millions.

For Numeracy we have been working on place value and Maths has been time which was problem solving a murder mystery!

We have continued to research Scotland through the decades and are currently working through the 70’s.

We took a walk up to Deans Woods on Wednesday on a conker hunt. We did find quite a few but they were mostly too small and not quite ready yet. We will venture out to Dechmont Law in a few weeks to get some better ones so we can have a game of conkers.

As part of a STEM afternoon we were engineering Da Vinci bridges using lollipop sticks – it was quite challenging but interesting.

This week we had board games for Fun Friday and it was a popular choice.

A word from our Table of the Week winners:

“I enjoyed playing board games for Fun Friday,” said Katie.

I enjoyed drama because we got to think of roles and it was funny,” says Bettina and Lily.

“I enjoyed playing Cludeo and doing drama,” said Zahra.

Our Hot Chocolate at Home winner this week was…

Tanvi. Congratulations! She will be taking over the role of Lead Learner next week.

What a great week we have had in P1B.

We have been learning all about the sound and letter ‘m’ and our word of the week ‘I’. We did talking sentences about things we like, many of us managing to write I and m in our writing activity.
Khaleesi – I like to go to the park.

Aaron – I like to play football with Grandpa.

Bradley – I liked the marshmallows.

We have been continuing our learning on pattern, looking not only at number patterns but those made with shapes and colours etc. Lots of us made and continued our own patterns during play.

Enso- I liked making a pattern.

This week we learned about the emotion sadness and talked about strategies we can use when we or someone else is feeling sad.

During outdoor learning lots of us were using our imaginations and we saw bridges being built and boats being rowed.

Owen – I’m going to row to Germany

This week we have been learning all about the ‘m’ sound. We have been making ‘m’ using marshmallows and writing it in our jotters.  We also had a game where we had to feed the monkey pictures of items that started with ‘m’.  In writing, we learned to write the word ‘I’ and we wrote a sentence about what we loved.

In maths, we have been learning to write the numbers 4 and 5. We made 5 using the loose parts in the classroom, it was great fun!  We have also started to learn about identifying numbers before and after. We got to use the fly swat to hit the correct numbers.

This week we made our own friendship soup.  We got to put the different ingredients that we knew made a good friend. These included being kind, helping others, sharing and telling an adult if something happened to our friends. We also read the story of A Little Spot of Love and drew pictures on a big heart to show how we can grow a love spot.

We have started to use Seesaw in class to show our learning and we learned how to log in on the iPads. We know it is important to sign out when we are finished.

Some of our personal highlights this week are:

Harald – I liked playing with the trains.

Olga – I liked drawing outside.

Lillian – I liked doing my ‘m’ sound.

Aarav – I liked building houses with the straws.

Vasilisa – I liked drawing.

Vedansh – I liked playing with the Numberblocks.

Miss Stebbing – I was very impressed by all the great writing this week and how everyone tried their best to write ‘I’ and the letter ‘m’.  I also enjoyed being served lots of different food and smoothies during Choosing Our Own Learning time!

Well done to this week’s hot chocolate winner who is Tiya.

Another week over! We are having a lot of fun!

Joshua liked numeracy this week, working with numbers to 100,000!

Olivier enjoyed the collaborative art activity this week where the children had to work as a team to create something great!

Amelia liked creating and using the zones of regulation check-in this week!

Aoife liked the new ideas we had for our classroom and the change of layout to create our ‘resource resort’. A place for collaboration, challenge and innovation.

Josh liked learning about the 6 thinking hats, the brain and metacognition.

Hot chocolate at home: Emily! Well done, you really did go above and beyond this week in everything you did.

Hello P2B families!

Here are the learning highlights of the week from the Yellow Table:

Aaron said that the best part of his week was hearing the Word Boost story ‘Goat, Donkey and the Noise Downstairs’.  He liked learning about the meaning of ‘fierce’ and ‘dash’.

Emily-Ann loved our shape lesson and enjoyed building shapes using connecting straws.

Amy liked drawing on the smartboard during ‘Choosing our own learning’ time.

Georgia Rose said her highlight was PE with Mrs Lafferty where they played Musical Statues.

Ciara also recounts the shape lesson as her favourite.

Mrs Devlin’s highlight was our RE lesson about home time prayer when we say to God, “Thank you for my family and all the friends you give me to me”.   We drew our family last week and this week we drew our friends and what we enjoy playing with them.

Dear Readers,

We hope you have had a wonderful week!

In Primary 3A we have been very busy with our learning and here are the highlights for this week:

– We have worked on our first spelling words, learned how to do Read, Cover, Write and Check, how to do Rainbow Writing and even how to make our own Spelling Wordsearches!

– We have worked with concrete materials to continue developing our understanding on Units, Tens and Hundreds and have started Partitioning numbers into their different parts.

– We have learned the meaning of the words from the Hail Mary and started singing it, together with the Our Father. At the end we even managed to complete the prayer with the missing words!

-We have been very proud of all the boys and girls who have been bringing their acts of kindness to stick to our kindness wall! It’s starting to look amazing!

-We have learned and discussed the meaning of being Safe, Healthy, Achieving, Nurtured, Active, Respected, Responsible and Included, after which we have started to complete our Health and Wellbeing check- ins for the First term.

– Today, we have also had our first weekly spelling assessment and the scores were very,  very good, something that made Mrs Valente very proud!👍👍👍😊

-We would like to congratulate our Hot Chocolate winner of the week, Eva, and thank her for being such an inspiration to all by setting an amazing example of behaviour, hard work and happiness! 🥇💗Well done, Eva! Keep it up!🥳

– As every fortnight we count our kindness notes, next Friday we will find out who our new kindness champions are! Can’t wait!😉

Hello families of P5A!

We have had another busy and fun week in Primary 5! Our Hot Chocolate Friday winner was Carina who was extremely hardworking, helpful and kind to all of her classmates- well done! This week we have been working hard on partitioning larger numbers in numeracy and procedural writing in literacy. We also continued with our class topic of ‘Scottish Wars of Independence’, as we learned all about the life of King Alexander III of Scotland and filmed our very own ‘P5 Newsround’ to share our knowledge. Our focus for R.E. this week was centred around The Confiteor prayer and we all contributed towards a ‘prayer wall’ to help us remember this in the future.

Hello P6B families,

We have had another fantastic and busy week. We have continued to follow our class charter rules (Ready, Respectful and Safe) and shown what Awesome Ogilvie’s we truly are in all our learning this week. This week, Niamh received Hot Chocolate at Home for being incredibly helpful and respectful – well done Niamh!

Some learning highlights from 6B:

• Alex – enjoyed recapping how to divide and multiply by 10, 100 and 1000 and then solving these types of question in Number Talks.

• Vivien – liked working through the “Fluent in 5” maths challenges and beating my time!

• Naman – liked learning about the different ways we learn and discussing the ‘Thinking Hats’ to help us understand what happens in the brain when we learn new things!

• Jayden – enjoyed developing basketball skills in PE with Mrs Lafferty.
