Merry Christmas

We have worked so hard this term and learned so much. Well done to everyone. Keep on trying your best and being the best and kindest person you can be.

We are looking forward to a big rest and some lovely times with our family. P4A wishes everyone a lovely Christmas and an awesome start to the new year. Lots of fun and learning to be had.

Mrs Ross is very grateful for the lovely cards and gifts but said we are the best gift ever!

This week we have been learning the sounds ‘w’ and ‘z’. We also learned the word ‘here’. We wrote special cards for our buddies and we used our best handwriting.  We played a special memory game where we had to remember the order of the Christmas lights. It definitely stretched our brains!

In maths, we have been playing lots of Christmas games to practise our skills. We matched up the symmetrical pictures, complete the Christmas repeating patterns and did some subtraction sums.

In Topic, we learned about old and new toys by reading The Old Toy Room. We then had to sort the pictures of the toys for old and new on Seesaw.

We have been making lots of different Christmas crafts. We made a reindeer cake, a gingerbread man and a candy cane reindeer.

On Thursday we had our Christmas party and it was fantastic! We danced, played games and had a special Christmas snack.

What an amazing last week of term before our Christmas holidays!

This week we made Christmas sweet treats we made a reindeer bun, a marshmallow snowman and a gingerbread man.  They all tasted delicious.

On Thursday we had our Christmas Party.  We got to wear our party clothes, play games, dance and eat party food.  We also had prizes for party games.

We met up with our Buddies and they performed a show for us.  We gave them their Christmas cards and we had hot chocolate together.

P1 and P2 came together for our last Christmas story read by Mrs McKissack.

Today we had a visit from a very important person, Santa!  He took us all we had worked really hard and that we are all on the ‘nice list’.

We would like to wish all our families and friends a very Happy Christmas and peaceful New Year.  We look forward to seeing you all in 2023.

Today Primary 1 had a special visitor! Santa brought them some presents and told them they were all on the nice list!

This week has passed so quickly. On Monday Morning we started to write a short story about walking through a Magic Door to somewhere unusual. On Monday afternoon we had a great Christmas party with dancing and games. Joy and James being joint winners in musical statues.

On Tuesday we finished our stories and painted our creative door designs to display with them. On Wednesday we had a Winter Safety Assembly reminding us to have fun but be safe especially outdoors with the cold weather. In the afternoon we created series and parallel circuits in our science lesson. We were able to light up light bulbs, turn on buzzers and motors. On Thursday in our art lesson we created a tree for each season which was very challenging but fun. We had a fun movie afternoon with Primary 5A with popcorn and flavoured water.

This week we spent some time with our Buddies to make a Christmas door hanger and exchange cards. We were very lucky because the P7s had made us special crackers with hats, chocolate coins and even a joke in them! We had great fun!

Hello P2B families!

Here are our highlights from the Blue and Yellow Tables:

Reesa has continued to enjoy the daily stories from a P7 before home time during our season of Advent.  She could not pick her favourite one as she enjoyed them all so much.

Georgia-Rose said a favourite part of her week was making our Spanish Christmas cards.  Parents, you are in for a treat when we take these home!  The children worked very hard on them.  Feliz Navidad!

Lilly loved watching the Christmas movie, Home Alone as a special treat after our Christmas lunch.

Sofia enjoyed watching the Cbeebies pantomime, ‘Alice in Wonderland’ was Mrs Morrison during Music.

Eli said the highlight of his week was our Christmas themed maths.

Blair loved his Christmas lunch.  He ordered steak pie and jelly, which he claims is the best food in the world!  A big thank you to all the kitchen staff for another fine Christmas meal.

Mrs Devlin’s favourite part of the week was our learning about the ‘Magic e’.  The children made wands to help the Magic e to do it’s job of turning a short vowel sound into a long vowel sound (or it’s name).  They became really excited when they spotted a word in their environment that had a magic e as the week progressed.  Maja, for example, spotted the ‘home’ key on the screen of the computer.  Well done Maja!

Wow!  One more week to go!

In maths this week, we have been looking at money.  We can now recognise and show all coins and notes to £20.  We know how to find the total of an amount and show it using pounds and pence.  We have been showing different ways to make the same amount.  Additionally, to support our last addition and subtraction topic, also did some word problems and we practised using the inverse again.

In literacy, we’ve been learning about descriptive writing.  We have been using nouns, adjectives, verbs, adverbs/adverbials phrases, prepositional phrases and figurative language (such as similes and alliteration).  We wrote a lovely description about a beach today and used loads of descriptive vocabulary to paint a clear image in our reader’s head.

Our highlights from this week:

Layla: I liked getting the hot chocolate because it shows my hard work.

Stefi: I liked creating our Christmas artwork because we were able to colour.

Jonah: I loved watching the Christmas film and also the art.

Markuss: I enjoyed doing the Friday Newsround Quiz.  The most interesting question was about the Geminid meteor shower.  There were 150 meteors per hour!

Amelia is also very proud of her Lego creation.  It is spectacular!
