P3A – WB 24.04.23

Dear Readers,

This week has been an extra hard working one for P3A, both regarding Maths and Literacy. Here are our highlights:

  • In Maths, we have revised Addition on Monday, Subtraction on Tuesday, Multiplication on Wednesday and Division on Thursday. Today, we have independently completed a Maths assessment to demonstrate how well we are doing and it was great to see everyone working so focused and concentrating so much on their tests!👏👍
  • In Literacy the week has started with our new spelling words, which we got to practise every day when we came in the morning. We have also learned to properly answer in full sentences,  by going to the question, extracting the most important words and starting our answers with them. To make sure we could all do it, we have been challenged to make up our own full sentence answers to which Mrs Valente had to guess the questions! And we all did it! it was great! Once again, we have practised our note taking technique while we were watching a super interesting clip about our topic and we all managed to do it as well! Mrs Valente was very, very proud! After having our notes we then had to use them to make our full sentence answers to Mrs Valente’s questions about the clip. Again, it was amazing to see how well we did! Finally, we ended the week with our Spelling Assessment!😴🥱What a tiring week!🤣
  • Topic has also taken a lot of our time and we continue learning about the different animals that are endangered and the reasons for that to happen, of course!🐢🦒🦏
  • Our Art was simply amazing and we almost can’t wait to show you our work! This week we got to draw our own gorillas and red squirrels and they are the cutest!
  • We would like to congratulate Kayla for being again the Hot Chocolate of the week!!!!!!!👏🎉🥇🏆🥰Well done!

  • Also, we congratulate Kayla’s House, Gryffindor, for winning the prize of the House of the week due to their good behaviour, kindness, neatness and readiness to learn!          Go, go, Gryffindor!!!!!!!👏👏👏🎉🎉🎉
  • Finally, best congratulations to the boys and girls in our class who have managed to earn super play time this Friday! It was lovely to see them playing with Mrs Callaghan and to know that they really deserved it! From now on, everyone can be chosen, they just need to be Ready, Respectful and Safe everyday throughout the week! Well done to Izaan, Kayla, Pola, Emily, Eva and Kyle!👏👏👏👏👏👏🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇✨🎈

We hope you have enjoyed reading this post and wish you an amazing long weekend!

Primary 1A Learning Highlights 28th April 2023

This has been a very exciting week in Primary 1A! On Monday, we had a visit from a friendly dragon. The dragon left us a letter, which told us that Fairyland was destroyed and that he needed our help to rebuild it. Of course, we agreed to help and we wrote letters to the dragon to tell him.  We posted our letters in the special ‘D-Mail’ post box that he had left for us. On Wednesday, the dragon left us another letter that had lots of burnt bits on it as he was so happy we had agreed to help and little bits of fire had popped out of his mouth. He also left us some castle books so that we can keep all our Fairyland work in them. We can’t wait to see what tasks the dragon leaves us to complete! We learned about different castles and the parts of a castle after the dragon told us he used to protect a castle in Fairyland. We drew pictures of a castle and wrote a sentence about it. We even remembered to use the word ‘and’.

In maths, we have been learning to tell the time to half past the hour. We have been practising this using the Stop the Clock game where we have to match the analogue and digital clocks. We also used the part, part, whole model to complete some missing number addition sums.

In RE, we learned the story of the Good Shepherd and The Wedding Feast at Cana.

For Outdoor Learning, we listened to the story ‘Not a Stick’. We then had to find a stick and use our imaginations. It was a bit wet in the woodland so we saw lots of minibeasts. We loved trying to find lots of different minibeasts under the logs and in the leaves.

Our sunflower seeds have grown a lot over the past week and we have been very excited to see the difference each day. We have reminded Miss Stebbing to make sure they are watered!

Some of our personal highlights this week are:

Summer Rose – I enjoyed going to the woodland.

Vasilisa – I enjoyed seeing the animals in the woodland.

Harald – I enjoyed finding creatures in the woodland.

Connor – I enjoyed finding the animals and pretending the sticks were something else in the woodland.

Lillian – I enjoyed holding the woodlouse.

Eve – I enjoyed going up to the woodlands and finding bugs.

Filip – I enjoyed finding some bugs and a spider.

Well done to Summer Rose who is our Hot Chocolate Winner this week.

Week 24/04/23 – Primary 3B

Dear Parents and Carers,

This week we have been extremely busy in Primary 3B.

We have been focusing on revising our knowledge of number and the four operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) and applying these to worded problems. We have also been practising our mental maths strategies as part of our morning starters.

In literacy we have practised spelling and reading within our groups through a variety of strategies and questioning techniques. As a class we watched and read about Marli the Puffin and how plastic pollution affected her. Next week children will revisit this by completing a comprehension task. Furthermore, we have examined singular and plural and how this changes the spellings of animals’ names. Following an episode of newsround, we also wrote our own opinions about ‘What happened to Gary the Gorilla?’.

In Spanish we continue to learn the parts of the body and in Health we have been learning different emotion words to help us express ourselves.

We continue our topic ‘Endangered Animals’ and enjoyed finding definitions using both the classroom dictionaries and the Children’s Online Dictionary, using our Ipads. We have began practising for our class assembly on May 19th, which will focus on this current topic.

Congratulations to Addison, who is this week’s Hot Chocolate Award winner!

Please find the learning overview attached for term 4.

Have a lovely weekend!

P5B Weekly Blog 28th April 2023

This week we explored several articles linked to the care and protection of children. Article 9 (separation from parents) Children must not be separated from their parents against their will . Article 20 (children unable to live with their family) If a child cannot be looked after by their immediate family, the government must give them special protection and assistance. Article 21 (adoption) Governments must oversee the process of adoption to make sure it is safe, lawful and that it prioritises children’s best interests. Article 25 (review of treatment in care) children have the right to a regular review of their treatment, the way they are cared for and their wider circumstances.

Your children, as always, showed a good sense of understanding and empathy for children living through difficult circumstances.

P5 have been investigating the meaning of bible verse in our everyday life. In math are still developing their knowledge of grid method multiplication as well as being able to tell time and use time to plan events or travel. In literacy P5 are developing our knowledge of different sentence elements and how to link information through paragraphs. P5 are working hard with Mrs Morrison to learn how to create rhythmic musical pieces. In our outdoor learning this week we were busy trying to restock the bug hotel to create warm places for insects to live in our woodlands.  I hope everyone enjoys this holiday weekend and look forward to seeing the children back in school on Wednesday.
