This week in P3B we have been learning about St. Andrew to celebrate St. Andrew’s Day. We used what we learned to create a fact file about St. Andrew. We also designed our own tartan and made Scottish kilts for our puppets. In maths we were learning different strategies to do multiplication sums and started to learn about 3D shapes. We used our knowledge of 2D shapes to design a mitten with patterns on it.
Our Learning Highlights:
“I enjoyed doing the mitten. I drew shapes” – Akash
“We learned about St. Andrew and we made kilts. We designed the tartan” – Ali
“To multiply we can do step counting and arrays and we can do any sum at all” – Niamh
“I liked when we were doing the shape hunt. We were looking for 3D shapes around the class” – Urwa
“We were looking at animals that go to sleep in the day and they are awake at night” – Jude

Primary 6B made their own 3D space stations using a variety of materials. First we planned our design and then worked in pairs to create our models, they look amazing ! In Art we learnt about perspective and created our ” Falling into Space” pictures and it was great fun. They will be displayed in the upper are soon.

We have been working really hard to prepare for our general election which was really fun.
We visited Sky Academy and created some super movie trailors, Mrs McLaughlin said they were quite scary.
It has been a busy month for us!!

Curriculum areas and subjects
In Maths, we went over how to add and subtract using the column method again so that we do not forget how to do it. Practise makes perfect!
Interdisciplinary learning
We were making posters to tell the whole school about recycling crisp packets. We worked in groups and we had to take turns to make the poster. We had paper and drew crisp packets on it to so we can stick it on to our crisp packet bin.
The ethos and life of the school
We had a great time on our school trip! At the Education centre, we were building towers. We learnt that if it has a wide base it is more stable.
The instructor told us about engineers. She said that engineers never give up, they are resilient because when they make a mistake, they will try again.
We walked over the Forth Road Bridge. It was scary for some of us. On the way back we weren’t that scared because we knew that we were safe.

Today primary 7’s heldan election and we invited in parents to vote.
There was 8 candidates (Shannon, Calum, Mia, Stanislav, Zara, Dhanu, Zayn, and Abhay) who has to stand up in front of everyone and give their speeches! they all did really well.
We had loads of fun making the posters and rosettes and writing the manifestos and speeches – it was an interesting topic since the UK election is coming up.
Shannon had the most votes with 17 so she won the election for her party and had to give a victory speech.
