Primary 7 Friday 3/4/20

Good Morning Primary 7, Friday again and nearly the holidays.  We know it will be strange and that for some of you, you will be missing trips away with your family but it’s very important to remember to follow the advice and to stay safe.

This morning we have a couple of tasks for you:

RE – Making your own Cross for Palm Sunday

https://ucatholic.com/blog/palm-cross-instructions/

How To Make A Palm Cross PDF

Obviously you wont have a palm leaf lying about the house but perhaps you can find something to use instead – use a bit of paper 24cm long and 2 cm wide or use your 30 mins outdoor exercise to see if you can find something suitable in nearby woods – only with permission from a parent and following social distancing rules.

Do your best to come up with something, then using this follow the instructions (PDF and video) to create your own Palm Sunday Cross.

Science & Technology – Egg Drop Day Challenge

Egg Drop Day Challenge PDF

Egg Drop Day Challenge WORD

You are being asked to design and build a protective casing for a raw egg.  We all know how delicate eggs are so using materials that you can find from around the house (and have permission to use) you should build a protective shell(haha) that will stop your egg from being smashed when dropped.  Start at 1 meter and keep dropping your egg until it no longer survives – who can successfully save their egg from the tallest drop.  Record your planning and results on the PDF/WORD document and if you also want to take pictures or videos you can post all of your work to your Personal Learning Blogs.

We can’t wait to see your results and the eggstraordinary ideas you come up with to protect your eggs! It’s very eggciting!

Have a great Easter P7, stay safe and we’ll see you soon.,

Primary 6B Morning Activities 3/4/20

Good morning everyone ! This is the last day before our Easter holidays which starts this afternoon so I have prepared some fun tasks for you to do.

Art    I would like you to design a 3D pop up card for your family. I have provided a clip which gives clear instructions.

Health and Well being   During this period of uncertainty, it is important to be kind to yourselves and your family. I would like you to design a ” Kindness Poster”demonstrating how you are going to be kind over the Easter Holidays. It could be a picture of you helping to look after your little brother or sister or helping to cook dinner.

Literacy Write down words that begin with ” ex” in the table provided. Then replace the beginning of the word with ” eggs.”

For example explorer   — eggsplorer

explode   — eggsplode

Use the dictionary to help you spell the original words. when you have written your words in the table please illustrate them with drawings. Have a super morning and stay safe during the Easter holidays.

P6A Learning Tasks – Friday 3rd April

Good morning P6a!  It is our last day of term before the Easter break, well done to everyone who has worked really hard over the last 12 weeks!  We have covered a lot of learning and everyone can be proud of their efforts in class and when learning remotely.

We are going to have a little fun today!  Your first task is to create an Easter wordsearch.

Easter Wordsearch Task

Maths – co-ordinates task.   You will remember that we studied co-ordinates before Christmas.  Here is a task to check that you have remembered how to write them.  You could create your own version when you finish this one!

Easter-Story-Coordinates-1 Sheet Only

Easter Bunny art task:  Below is a YouTube link showing you how to create an Easter bunny picture. The video is just to give you a rough guide; I would love to see you being creative with it.  For example, create your own background (you don’t need coloured paper, you can use coloured pens/paints to create your own), use different patterns on the bunny, change the shape of the glasses etc. At the beginning of the video, you will need to pause it and copy the outline of the bunny.

Remember to post your tasks to your personal learning blogs and don’t forget to add me as a user if you haven’t already done so!

P4B 01.04.20 PM

Great effort this morning P4B

This afternoon’s tasks are:

Topic – Throughout the Harry Potter series, Harry and his friends come across many magical creatures on their adventures, as well as in their Care of Magical Creatures lessons at Hogwarts. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=71xBu_VHTfY

  1. Using the internet, research magical creatures found in Harry Potter. Draw 5 different creatures and label them with their names.
  2. Oh no! One of the magical creatures you discovered has escaped from Hogwarts. Make a ‘Wanted Poster’ to help find the creature.
  3. Design and draw your own magical creature.

Science – We have looked a lot lately at washing our hands. I came across an experiment which further emphasises the importance of washing them properly. Watch this clip of the experiment and then try it for yourself. https://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/watch/germs-experiment

Music – Check out Karen singing ‘Have you ever, ever, ever’ and see if you can remember the words and sing along. https://youtu.be/Wn62rnpMmGc

You are going to have a science activity set tomorrow morning so if you have time this afternoon it might be wise to see if you can find an egg and some loose materials you may have around the house – no more clues but it should be Eggcellent fun!

Hope you enjoy your afternoon and the rest of the evening when it comes.

If you don’t have a printer at home or would like to colour the mindfulness sheets in digitally then follow these instructions to do so.

  1.  Open the file from the folder below and save the image to your desktop.
  2. Open with Paint or Paint 3D.
  3. Using the fill tool you can fill in each section or use the brushes or pens if you wish.

Colouring Page Files

You should also be able to edit these on a phone or tablet if you save to the gallery and then edit.  However, it might only have the pen to colour rather than the fill tool.  If you find another way to do this then please let us know.

Remember to stay active – Mrs Lafferty is posting activities that you could do every day!

We look forward to seeing any posts on your Personal Learning Blogs – look out for comments from us on your posts!

Have a great afternoon and evening!
