Welcome back Primary 6! I hope everyone is well and you have had a super Easter. This morning we are going to do literacy and maths activities.

Spelling – Please do pyramid writing, backward writing, blue vowels and sentences with all your spelling words! I have uploaded a slide reminding you of your spelling groups, in case you have forgotten!

Maths – Our number of the day is 6789 !  You have eight different things to do with this number. Open the “Number of the day” worksheet to find out the eight things! Next we will learn to identify and name different types of angles. You should watch the power point and have fun trying to become an independent learner. When you have familiarised yourself with the different names and types of angles, you can complete a mild, spicy or hot worksheet. Perhaps you might feel like challenging yourself today and create a poster showing the different types of angles and describing their properties.  Have a super morning and remember to post your completed work on your profile so that I can give you feedback.

School is now closed for the Easter break with staff and pupils resuming on Monday 20th April.  We really appreciate the efforts of all of our children and their families to continue with learning over the last 2 weeks.  The way that you have adapted to our new circumstances is inspiring and we applaud you all.

We know that your Easter break won’t be the one that you had planned or hoped for.  Please remember that your children will need the chance to rest, recuperate and play.  We have attached a few ideas of things to keep you busy, it is completely up to you whether you choose to take part or not.  There is a family Easter challenge alongside a link to the Archdiocese of St Andrews and Edinburgh Holy Week resources.

On behalf of the staff, I wish you a happy and holy Easter.  Take care of yourselves and your families.

Holy Week: Family resources

Hey Awesome Ogilvies!  As you know, we usually celebrate our children who have gone “over and above” in school with Milkshake Monday and, in the past, Hot Choc Friday.  I am nominating every single one of you for an “over and above” reward today for the way that you have adapted to learning from home and got stuck into the tasks that your teachers have set for you.  You might not have milkshake or hot chocolate in the house but talk to your parents about a special treat that you can have.  If you want to, take a picture of you enjoying it and send it to our school email wlstjohnogilvie-ps@westlothian.org.uk or tweet it to the school @WLStJohnOgilvie (remember not to include your name if you are tweeting).  Enjoy your well earned “over and above” treat!

Today is Friday and Friday is day for………… Spelling assessment and Big Maths, beat that!

For the Spelling assessment:

1 – Please ask someone to dictate the spelling words for this week to you.

2 – Mark you’re your words against the spelling grid I sent on Monday.

3- Share your scores! That would be nice!

After, it’s time for Big Maths!

1. First, copy the sums on the picture of the level you have been working at to your jotter/or print it out.
2. Second,I will try to insert the sound files from Big Maths, but if they don’t work, just use any phone to time it!asking  a very nice person close to you, to time you while you do it – giving you only the time written on the sheets, of course!
3. Third, ask that very nice person to help you correct it and write down your score! No cheating allowed!
4. Share your score if you feel like it. You don’t have to!

I will try to insert the sound files from Big Maths, but if they don’t work, just use any phone to time it!

Easter time related activities for today

1. Because in a bit more than a week it will be Easter, I would really like you to think about its true meaning and understand why we value and celebrate it.

So, I am sending you The Easter story cards for you to put them in the correct order. You don’t need to print them, just read them after watching the Easter Story  powerpoint and then write down the sentences in each of the cards in the right order.

The Learning intention will be knowing everything about the Easter story and being able to pass it on to your families. If you think you’ve done that, then I’m sure you’ve been very successful with your learning! You can even record yourself doing it and share it on Teams!

2. I will attach some Easter time colouring pages but if you can’t print them, try to draw them just by carefully looking at them and see how accurate you can be!

Then, colour them in and have some Easter fun!

3. I will also attach a Easter wordsearch – if you can’t print it, just use the words in the box to make your own wordsearch in your jotters and then try to find the words!
