Primary 6 Afternoon Post 22-04-20

Good afternoon Primary 6.

We hope you are managing to get outside at some point everyday to enjoy the lovely weather we’ve been having.  Maybe some of you are lucky enough to have a garden you can spend lots of time in.  If you do, you can even do some of your tasks outside.

This afternoon we’d like you to have another look at the new topic, The Jacobites.  Yesterday we asked you to do some research about who the Jacobites were.  Today we’re going to look at when the Jacobites featured in Scottish history.  There will be a picture pdf file attached and we would like you to look at it and create your own version of the timeline of Scottish history, either in your jotter or on your personal learning blog.  You don’t need to print it off, just be able to look at it.  It’s all in the correct order for you apart from pictures 2 & 3 (not sure why they’ve been mixed up I’m afraid…).  You can create your own illustrations using the pictures as guides.  The timeline is important for you to be able to understand which parts of Scottish history we are going to be looking at this term.

Sorry, I’ve had to split the pdf as it was too big to upload all at once  and my internet doesn’t want to play today – technology issues!

I’m going to post all of this and fight with my ICT issues then post the timeline, sorry you’ve all had to wait so long!

The second activity for the afternoon is a drama one.  There will be a set of cards uploaded and you have to choose a poem, rhyme or song and say the lyrics in the way the cards suggest.  If you can do this with a member of your family, it will be quite fun but if everyone is busy with their own tasks, try reciting it to a teddy bear or other soft toy.  Choose any poem or song, you can even use a Robert Burns one from last term!

Have fun!

Good afternoon P4A!  I hope that you are all having a good day and remembering to get some fresh air while we have such nice weather (while following the guidelines of course!)

Topic and Art – The Romans – Making a Mosiac

Mosaics are a type of art that are made up of hundreds and thousands of mini squares of tile or stone.  They often are laid in a pattern or make up a pictures.  To find out a little bit more about mosaics, visit

  • Make your own mosaic by doing one of the following:
    • Visit http://www.gwydir.demon.co.uk/jo/mosaic/easy.htm and make your own design. Either print it out or take a photograph if you can.
    • Use squared paper to colour your own design
    • Cut out small squares of coloured paper and stick down to make your own mosaic picture (ask permission before you cut anything up

P7 Afternoon Tasks 22/4

Good Afternoon Primary 7

Hope you have been feeling inspired during your writing lesson this morning! We can’t wait to read the exciting next chapters that you have been writing.

This afternoon we are going to be doing a bit of science, looking at how important looking after our plant – particularly important today on ‘World Earth Day’

To start with why not take a breath taking (virtual) tour of some of the world’s most beautiful natural attractions. Travel from the Great Barrier Reef, to the icebergs of Alaska, to the volcanoes of Hawaii learning all about what we can do to protect these.

http://attenboroughsreef.com/experience_intro.php

https://artsandculture.withgoogle.com/en-us/national-parks-service/hawaii-volcanoes/nahuku-lava-tube

Which of these attractions did you find the most interesting? Why do you think it is important to try and save the places included in the video? Write a short summary about one of the places you studied and what you have learned about it.

If you are able to take a (social distanced) walk with an adult why don’t you look around and see what local plants of wildlife you can see. With permission you could snap a few pictures and then research when you get home to find out the name of the plants and animals. Perhaps you could design an informative poster showing your findings.

If you are unable to get out a walk then the following website will give you lots on information about plants and animals native to Scotland

https://www.woodlandtrust.org.uk/about-us/where-we-work/scotland/

Your task for music today is to learn the Canadian Anthem. In English and French!  This website has the lyrics in both languages and a audio file on the page that has the tune.

https://kids.niehs.nih.gov/games/songs/patriotic/o-canada/index.htm

You can listen to the anthem here first:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zwDvF0NtgdU

And then sing along to the instrumental track that has the lyrics here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gBiZYZXiGsM

If you like you could record yourself and post it to your Personal Learning Blog

Just a heads up Primary 7, we will not be posting at 9.15 on Friday morning, instead Mr McGurn and I will both be available to our own classes for a chat. If you log on to your own Team there will be the opportunity to join the chat and say hello to your friends and to us. Work will then be posted after the chat has ended.
