PE Primary 1-3 27-04-20

Good morning,

Last week we had a focus of jumping for distance with our theme of athletics, this week we are going to be jumping for height and speed.  Over the next few days we will explore the best ways to help us jump for height and I will set you some tasks and challenges to complete throughout the day.  Please make sure that you are reading the instructions carefully and are staying safe in a big space when carrying out the challenges. I have posted your task sheet below.

P6A AM Tasks – Monday 27th April

Good morning P6A!  Hope that everyone had a good weekend and managed to spend some time in the lovely sunshine.  Here are your tasks for today.  As always, remember to upload your work to your Personal Learning blog if you can.

Task 1 – Literacy – Writing – Bubbles

First watch the clip below.

https://www.literacyshed.com/bubbles.html

When it all seems blue, happiness may be close by… if you just look closely at your surroundings then you will find it. In the clip, Gabby is walking on the beach and finds a bottle of bubbles – when she blows it she gets transported away.  She has fun riding on bubbles and meets people on the way.

Write your own imaginative story about where your bubbles take you.  Who do you meet and what do you see.  Take a look at the targets and try to make sure that you work towards including these in your work today.

Narrative SECOND LEVEL pupil-friendly targets

Task 2 – Numeracy & Maths

We are going to look at algebra for the next few Mondays.  We will begin by exploring what a function machine is.    Have a look at the powerpoint about Function Machines.  If you have problems opening this, use a search engine to find out about function machines.

Complete the worksheet either on paper or type up the answers and share it on your Personal Learning blog.

Extension – create your own function machines which involve 2 step calculations and ask a family member to solve them.  Again, you can share these on your PLB.

Primary 7 Friday 24th April

Good morning! And just like that we’re on the last day of our first week back to learning.

We’ve enjoyed seeing you wonderful work and reading excellent imaginative stories.  We also really like seeing what else you are up to.  Lots of people have been sharing different activities you have been doing at home with parents so remember you are encouraged to post these things to your Personal Learning Blogs too.

Friday is a day for RE and HWB and these subjects were picked for a very good reason.  The importance of looking after our physical, emotional and spiritual self has maybe never been so important as this is a very challenging time.  Know you can always contact your teacher if you need some advice.

RE:  In Scotland we have a history of having famously beautiful abbeys. They all have fascinating stories behind them, are wonderful places to study, to walk round and to learn the history of. Today for RE you are going to choose a Scottish Abbey to research, find out what you can about it – where it is, when it was built, who lived there, what were the roles (jobs) of the people who lived there and perhaps why it may now be in ruins.

There is also history about Scotland’s oldest Universities, St Andrew’s, Glasgow and Aberdeen and their links to Abbeys, can you find out what it is?

You can choose to display your research in anyway – notes in your jotter, a word document, PowerPoint, poster. It is up to you!

HWB:  We still want to achieve the Silver Rights Respecting Schools Award when we return to working in the school building so we need to keep up our RRS work, knowing about the different Articles and that the UN says these rights should be guaranteed for EVERY child in the world.

There is a PowerPoint which has some information and video links to watch before the final page is full of activities for you to complete.  Do the tasks you are able to but the important thing is to share your work on you PLB so we can share them with Mrs Miller who has been working so hard to lead us in earning the Silver Award. I have also attached just the activities in a pdf file if that is easier to access for some.

Have a great weekend Primary 7, whatever you are doing remember to be safe and follow the advice – and why not do something nice for your parents, without being asked – remember it’s tough for everyone at the moment.

P4B – 24.04.20 POST

Good morning boys and girls from P4B!

I am really excited because today is the first time we are hopefully going to talk after a very long time!

When you see something in your screen asking you to answer, click accept, please.

This is going to be our trial so, even if it is not perfect, we will be learning how to make it better every week.😊

After the check in, you will have a Health and Well being worksheet that you can copy to your jotter the best you can and follow the instructions there. It is supposed to help you dealing with the emotions that this different period of our lives has been causing.

Triggers and Emotions worksheet pdf (1)

Then, it’s time for a bit of RE with a beautiful wee hymn that we always sing in Mass, the Sanctus, or Holy, Holy, Holy.

Here it is: Sanctus to illustrate 24.04.20

You will then need to follow the instructions and do the work in your jotters!

Your work will be finished with a Rights Respecting School’s Powerpoint and tasks in it about Right 24. It’s really fun and has lots of activities that you can do over the weekend!

24.04 Article-of-the-Week_Article-24_P4B

I would really love to see your artistic skills again so do send them to your PLB and let me know when you’ve done that.😉

I wish you all a wonderful weekend with lots of fun, chats with your families and, if possible, walks in the sun!

Mrs Valente

P4-7 PE 24/04/20

Good morning,

Today we are going to try and continue to develop the rhythm and timing of the triple jump but this time from a run.  We run into our jumps as this creates a forward motion and momentum which helps us to drive our body further forward as we jump.  Your worksheet with your task is posted below.

If you are looking for other ways to keep active throughout the day you can also continue to take part in the Joe Wicks Body Coach PE Lessons which are posted on his YouTube Channel each day.  I have posted the link to today’s workout below.
