Primary 7 Afternoon Post – 30th April

Good Afternoon Primary 7,

I hope you are all having a good week so far.  I am missing seeing all your lovely faces on a Thursday.

Since it is Thursday afternoon, it’s time to do some art work.  I absolutely loved seeing your Charles Rennie Mackintosh inspired roses last week and I’m excited to see what you all produce today.

Last week we studied a famous Scottish artist, therefore this week we will have a look at a famous artist from Canada.

The artist we are going to look at today it is called Emily Carr.  Emily Carr was a painter and writer who painted pictures of the Canadian landscape.  Why don’t you see what else you can find out about her?

Like many other artists, Emily Carr enjoyed drawing and painting things found in nature.  She is particularly famous for the work she produced featuring trees.  I have attached below an art tutorial on how to produce a painting of trees in the style of Emily Carr.  You can follow the tutorial and create a similar picture or you can be creative and create your own picture of trees in your own style.  If you can see trees from your house, you might want to try to draw/paint them?  If not, you could maybe find a picture online or in a book to inspire you.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FG6Wb59FOIk

Like last week, don’t worry if you don’t have the correct materials, just use whatever you have available.  Even if that’s just paper and a pencil!

Can the people who haven’t added me to their blogs yet, please add me?  I would love to see all the work you have been producing.

Thanks,

Mrs Craig

P4B PM Thursday 30th April

Good afternoon P4. Fantastic work completed this morning, well done! This afternoon’s tasks are:

Science

Over the coming weeks we are going to be learning about our bodies. Today I would like us to revise names of external body parts and think about what we need them for. https://www.learninggamesforkids.com/health_games/body_parts/labeling.html

  1. In the middle of a piece of paper draw a picture of yourself, at least 15cm tall.
  2. Label parts of your body with a short description of what these parts are used for e.g. Eyes – For me to see. I have provided you with a list of parts to help you with this.

Body parts

Music

Today in Music, we are going to practice ‘Tony Chestnut’. You can have fun with this one, replacing the words and actions to anything you’d like!

Here you will find the words and further challenges.

P5B Thursday 30.04 Morning

Good Morning everyone. Not the best weather but the plants and trees will be grateful for the rain. Watch for lots of new flowers appearing in the next week.

Daily Challenge

Find 3 jokes about rain. Share on TEAMS. Lets cheer ourselves up.

Literacy

Have you heard of Captain Tom Moore? Today is his birthday. 100 years old. I thought for our writing task we could write a thank you letter. I have put a link to newsround about him for extra information.

Have a look at the information.  Watch and read through the powerpoint, make some notes (see example) and then see what you can create.  You can write or use word. Whichever you want. Use the school address rather than your own.

Primary 7 Morning Task 30/4

Good Morning Primary 7,

Hope you are well rested (especially after reading all that information about the importance of sleep!)

Literacy

For literacy today we are going to be focusing on nouns – looking at the different types such as concrete, abstract, proper and collective. The PowerPoint below will go through a few different examples of each, it then has a series of 5 different activities for you to complete. Each activity is on a different slide. Please complete these in either your home learning jotter or on a document such as word.

Numeracy/Maths

In maths today we are starting with a Big Maths quiz to see how you have been getting on this week with you mental maths.

BM Thursday Hot

BM Thursday Mild

BM Thursday Spicy

We are continuing on with time, with a focus on timetables. These are such an important life skill – cinemas, buses, trains all use timetables. Try out the online starter before moving onto the main task
