Primary 7 Friday 8th May

Good Morning P7! Another week over, albeit a short one, time to enjoy your weekend.

Thank you for sharing your work with us on our Personal Learning Blogs – remember you can share other things too, like if you’ve been baking or painting or pictures from outside if you’ve been going for walks etc.

Today’s RE Work:

May is a Month of Mary – a time where we pray to Mary, asking for her intercession.  For special intentions in the morning we’d say the Hail Mary or another prayer dedicated to Mary.  The Magnificat is one of these prayers. Copy this prayer into your Learning Journal – use a pen and your best joined up handwriting. Or type it up using Word and add a picture of Mary.

Previously you were asked to research Lourdes – one of Mary’s titles is Our Lady of Lourdes.  Here’s a PowerPoint with information about Lourdes and a Colouring sheet for you to complete. If you can’t print you can simply draw a picture of Mary in your Home Learning Jotter.

Pilgrimage-to-Lourdes-Powerpoint

Finish by listening to Ave Maria – the Lourdes Hymn.

Today’s HWB Work:

We continue with our RRS work and UN Rights of a Child. Can you guess which article it is this week?

There is a PowerPoint which has some information and video links to watch before a range of activities for you to complete.  Choose the tasks you want to complete but the remember to share your work on you PLB so we can share them with Mrs Miller. I have also attached just the activities in a PDF file if that is easier to access.

Article of the Week

HWB Activities

We’ll be having our Friday Catch-up Chat at 10am this morning, see you then.

Have a great weekend Primary 7, look after yourselves and your families.

P6A AM Post – Friday 8th May

Good morning P6a!  I hope that everyone is well this morning.  Here are your tasks for today:

Task 1 – Health and Wellbeing

We are going to investigate the importance of having breakfast.  First, complete the breakfast quiz to see what you already know about it.

Breakfast Quiz

Next, watch the video clip:  https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/clips/z3hqxnb

Your task is to plan a breakfast which includes starchy carbohydrates plus fruit and/or vegetables.  Try to make it delicious as well as nutritious!  Write down the ingredients and the method for any cooking involved (a bit like you would see on a recipe)  Finally, write an acrostic poem using the word “breakfast”.  I’ve attached a template for how to set out your work, it’s up to you whether you use this or create your own.  If you want to add images, go for it!

Task 2 – RME

Today is VE Day and is extra special as this is the 75th anniversary (I know that you learned a bit about it earlier in the week)  Your task today is to write a prayer of thanks for all those who have taken part in conflict for the good of others.  You can be create about how you present this, maybe using technology to produce something?  Come on P6a, impress me!
Don’t forget to share your tasks to your PLBs.

Primary 6B Morning Post 8-5-20

Good morning everyone! I enjoyed looking at your fantastic work yesterday! Today we are going to do some Health and Wellbeing and RME.

Health and Wellbeing

Sometimes we might be in such a hurry , that it is tempting to skip breakfast but we are going to find out why it is the most important meal of the day!  Watch the BBC clip and discover the benefits of eating breakfast. You might find some of them surprising! Then design your own breakfast menu including starchy carbohydrates plus fruit and/ or vegetables. You could illustrate your menu.

Extension Task 1

Create your own rap, song or advert promoting the importance of eating a healthy breakfast. Perhaps you could upload your recordings to your PLP.

Extension task 2

Create a breakfast menu suitable for an athlete and try to think of the food groups your menu should include.

Today is VE Day and is extra special is this is the 75th anniversary  Your task today is to write a prayer of thanks for all those who have taken part in conflict for the good of others.

Primary 6 Afternoon Learning 07-05-20

Hello everyone,

This afternoon all our activities are going to help us to find out more about VE Day.  The 75th anniversary of this very special day is tomorrow, 8th May.

There is an information powerpoint:

VE-Day-in-Scotland

A worksheet to help you reflect on what the day was all about:

VE Day Worksheet

Some Morse Code puzzles to solve and set:

Morse Code 4

‘Code-Cracking for Beginners’ Morse Code Worksheet

A BBC clip for moe information:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/class-clips-video/history-ks2-ve-day/z7xtmfr

(You might need to copy and paste that one)

A special song to listen to and learn more about all the women who stepped in to do many jobs that had only ever been done by men before the Second World War.  This song was written specially for the 75th anniversary commemorations:

Maybe you could search for other music that was popular during the 1940s.  Can you find out about the artists, singers, and bands that were listened to?  Do you know anyone who was alive in the 1940s?  Could you phone or email them to say hello and ask about what they remember about the time?

Enjoy your afternoon everyone,

Mrs Morrison & Mrs Lea
