Primary 6 Morning Post 12-05-20

Good Morning Primary 6,

Hopefully you’re all ready for some new tasks today.

First up, maths.

Maths Starter 12-05-20

We’re going to practise the written method for division this week.  Have a look at the powerpoint presentations to remind you how to go about these before you attempt your tasks:

Spicy-Hot Maths PPP 12-05-20

Mild Maths 1 12-05-20

Mild Maths 2 12-05-20

Spicy Maths 1 12-05-20

Spicy Maths 2 12-05-20

Hot Maths 1 12-05-20

Hot Maths 2 12-05-20

Our next task is very exciting!  We are starting a new novel! (Can you tell how excited I am?)  The novel is called The Last Wolf and is written by Michael Morpurgo.  Today we are going to do some tasks just by looking at the cover and blurb.  There are two cover versions of this book:

The Last Wolf Cover 1

The Last Wolf Cover 2

Have a look at both cover pictures.  What do you think the story will be about?  What does the title mean, i.e.: the last wolf ever? The last wolf in a certain place? The last wolf in a queue? The last wolf to be photographed? Something else?  What clues do the two different covers give you?  Which cover appeals to you most and why?

Next, have a look at where the first part of the story is set (page 1 of task sheet) do you recognise the area?  What do you already know about this area?  Read the blurb (page 2).  The annotations (extra information) should help you understand it.  Look at the Impressions and Predictions sheet (page 3).  Complete the table in your jotter or directly in your Personal Learning Blog.

The-Last-Wolf_1

Enjoy your morning everyone!

P5B Monday PM

Good Afternoon

RME

It is May and we remember Mary. Last year, we watched some stories on Holy Heroes about Apparitions of Mary. I have added a reminder of one of the appearances and a colour sheet. Can you create a comic strip about The Lady of Guadelupe? If you can’t print then just read the page and draw the boxes on a piece of paper.

IT Safety

Seeing as we are spending so much time online at the moment I thought it would be a good idea to review some digital safety guidelines.

Year 2 Internet safety challenge cards-2

Have a read through these and think about them, maybe discuss them with a family member. I will add the answers at 3pm. It might be a good idea to create a poster about staying safe.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

P6A PM Tasks – Monday 11th May

Good afternoon everyone!  I hope that you enjoyed the animation and writing task from this morning!  Here are your tasks for this afternoon:

Task 1 Health and Wellbeing – School Lunch Menu Review

Our cook has asked us for some help.  She would like to introduce a new red tray option (meat based) and a new blue tray option (vegetarian) to try and encourage our P1 children to eat more of their lunch and to try and include more vegetables if possible.  Your task is to come up with these meals.  Use your knowledge of the Eatwell plate to help you plan this.  You can use the template here or record this in your own way.

School Meal Planner

Can you also please complete this survey on School Meals which we have been asked to do by West Lothian Council.  It shouldn’t take too long.

https://www.esurveycreator.com/s/890ff1b

Task 2 – RME

Last week we learned about the Holy Trinity.  Today  I want you to think about why it was important to have God on Earth in human form (Jesus).  Your task is to create a poster about Jesus, highlighting what his job was here on Earth.  Here are some of the things that he did:

  •  Teaching humans to love each other
  • Leading mankind
  • Teaching people about loving God
  • Being the “middle man” between God and mankind

Think also about the qualities that He showed and which made him so good at his “job”:  bravery; caring; loving; forgiving; a good leader.

You can create your poster using any media that you have (or use a computer design program).  Don’t forget to upload your work to your Personal Learning blog.

This afternoon we want to keep learning about Canada and Scotland.  We’d like you to find out more about the native wildlife that you can find in each country.  There are 2 PowerPoints to look at and from these choose one animal per country and research information on them.  It’s up to you how you want to present your research but we have included an animal factfile template that you can use if you wish.

Resilience is the ability to recover from difficulties and not let things get you down. We all face problems, make mistakes and get things wrong but it is important to bounce back as best we can and show bounce-back-ability!

Your task is to have a look at the PowerPoint and then try filling each sticky note in the worksheet with an idea of how we can all be more resilient. Circle your favourite one and see if you can achieve that over the next week.

We’ve also been asked if you can complete the Primary School Meals Survey to feed back your opinions on school lunches.

Don’t forget to share your work to your Personal Learning Blog and have a good afternoon.
