Primary 6 Afternoon Tasks 28-05-20

Good afternoon Primary 6,

Sorry, I forgot to press publish!  Far too excited about speaking to my class this afternoon!

I hope you’ve had a good morning and got a bit of sunshine and vitamin D, you should hopefully manage a bit more this afternoon.

Along with Mrs Lafferty’s Virtual Sports’ Day activity we’re going to do some music tasks.

VIRTUAL SPORTS FORTNIGHT DAY 4

Your music starter is a Sports’ Day special.  Can you write the sports under the correct rhythm?  Can you write at least two more sports for each rhythm?

Next, find your current favourite song (or one you just really like) and have a dance and sing to it.  Once you’ve listened and joined in once, listen again and start adding some rhythms to it.  It could be as simple as tapping your table or clapping your hands or snapping your fingers or you could create your own, home-made, drum kit with things you can find (don’t choose breakable things please….) kitchens are usually great resources and wooden spoons make pretty good drum sticks!

Here’s my current favourite song but It will have changed by next week or maybe even tomorrow!

Have fun!

P7 Afternoon Work – Thursday 28th May

Good Afternoon Primary 7,

What a beautiful week we are having.  Hopefully you have all managed to enjoy some sunshine and get some much needed vitamin D.

Here is the link to today’s Virtual Sports Fortnight activity set by Mrs Lafferty.  Remember to share your results by emailing them to the school:

https://blogs.glowscotland.org.uk/wl/stjohnogilvieprimary/2020/05/28/virtual-sports-fortnight-day-4/

We thought that since we are focusing on health and wellbeing this week, it would be good idea to link this to your art task too.

Lots of people like to doodle.  A doodle is when you draw or scribble absent-mindedly (without putting too much thought into it). Did you know that research has found that doodling is good for your mental health?  It can help to keep you calm and allows you to express your emotions.  It has also been shown to help concentration levels.

This week you are going to have the freedom to create your own piece of doodle art.  Here is a link to a YouTube clip from ‘Mr Doodle’ who spends his life creating doodles:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1UgQsaC9c6A

This is an example of space doodles:

School doodles:

Birthday doodles:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Sqk-OVnH3M

If you like, watch the videos and see if you can get some ideas, or if you are already a confident doodler, give it a try yourself.   You can start from anywhere, a word, a love heart, a star, even just a line and the build on it from there.  You may choose to use your doodle to show how you are feeling just now or you may prefer to just doodle away.  The most important thing is that it should help you to relax.  The only things you will need is a pencil/pen and a sheet of paper, if you want to add colour when you are finished then feel free.

I can’t wait to see what you all come up with.  Please remember to upload your work to the blog and add me if you haven’t already.

VIRTUAL SPORTS FORTNIGHT DAY 4

Good afternoon everyone,

I hope you have all been out enjoying the sunshine safely and with sun cream on! I am so happy with the number of pupils that have managed to complete and send me their videos of them taking part in our Virtual Sports Fortnight.

Today’s challenge is the egg & spoon, for this challenge you might want to boil your egg first so that if it does fall off your spoon you will not make a mess.  If you do not have any eggs in the house you can use something else that you have lying around that is in a ball shape e.g. small orange, golf ball or a pair of balled up socks.

Day 4 Instructions – Egg and Spoon Race

I know that some of you have been struggling to send your videos to the school e-mail as the video is too large, along with today’s blog post I have attached a score sheet that I would like you to fill out for everyday that you take part in the Virtual Sports Fortnight.  You do not need to print this out you can simply save and edit the document on your computer before sending it back.  I would still like you to video your attempts at the challenges however by also completing the worksheet this will allow me to make sure that I am able to add up all of your scores for all of the events and will not miss out on any vital house points being awarded.

*IMPORTANT* Please DO NOT send this sheet to the school e-mail until you have completed the challenge on Friday 5th June.

Score Sheet

Good luck, have fun and stay safe
