P2B Highlights Week Beginning 31st January 2022

P2B have had another super week. We have been revising o’clock in Maths and focusing on ‘ee’ sound with different spellings for literacy. We had lots of fun learning about Chinese New Year and how it is the year of the tiger. We then made cute 3D tigers and tried prawn crackers (they were yummy). For God’s Loving Plan, we were focusing on things that grow and we played a guess the baby game – the pictures were so beautiful!

Highlights from the red table:

Jayden – I liked when we done the magic e words, playing the game with Georgia. We didn’t get to the end because we kept landing on ‘go back’. It was funny.

Amelia – I liked the Chinese New Year tiger. I showed my Grandma and my half brother in Poland when I was on FaceTime.

Aaeryn-Leigh -I liked playing the baby game because it was kind of funny when we had to guess the names and some of us were wrong and some of us were right. My team won!

Kacper – I liked the baby game because it was super fun. All of them guessed my picture right.

Matthias – I liked the baby game because no one knew my picture.

Michael – I liked PE doing tunnel tig and throwing the ball to my partner.

Well done to Ismaeel for winning the Hot Chocolate Award.

Have a lovely weekend,

P3A – WB 24.01.22

Dear Readers,

This week we followed our normal routine and started with our new spelling words. We have worked a lot on them troughout the week to make sure we become absolute stars at spelling!

Our Reading Comprehension was very interesting and reminded us of how important it is to always look after our pets and never to stop loving them.

Our goal in writing is trying to add more detail to our stories to make them even more interesting.

We all did very well while reading our new books and answering questions about them, which made Mrs Valente very proud!

We finished the week with our weekly spelling assessment and hope to have really good scores.

In Maths, we have worked hard on counting in 2, 5, and 10 as quickly as possible. We have also learned everything about arrays and how to write a number sentence to describe an array. We ended up the week understanding even better timestables and revised the 2 timestable.

Our new Topic is West Lothian and we have started it by learning about our place in the world. It was very interesting to learn that we are in Livingston, which is in Scotland, a nation of the United Kingdom, a country in Europe and one of the continents of Planet Earth…

We celebrated Robert Burns with the traditional Irn-Bru and shortbread and have learned all about his life. In Music, we have learned a Scottish traditional song which is simply amazing: Katie Beardie!

We hope you have enjoyed reading about some of the highlights of our week and wish you a wonderful weekend!

P2B highlights week beginning 24th January

Hello SJO Families,

We had another super week in P2B 🙂. For maths we have been learning about measuring length and the children used the metre sticks to find things in our classroom that is 50cm or 1m long. We have been learning how to use a dictionary and the best way to search for words. We had lots of fun making paper kilts and yummy shortbread kilts to celebrate Robert Burns night. We also tried to learn some Scottish words by listening to ‘The Gruffalo in Scots’.

For our topic Livingston, we were learning about de Leving’s Peel and how the ruins are still in Peel park. Some of the children said they have been there before and were excited to learn more about it. The children then worked in groups to make their own Peel, based on the drawing below of what it is believed to have looked like. The children chose to make their Peel using Lego, cardboard boxes, straws or Jenga blocks. They look fantastic – I love the attention to detail (adding the stairs on the cardboard Peel and flag on the Lego Peel).

Highlights from the Green Table:

Georgia – I liked making the kilts for Robert Burns because I liked the colours that I chose to go up and down (weave).

Alex – PE was good because we got to play chaos tag and we were dribbling with the ball too playing the follow me game.

Flynn – I liked all the games in PE because they were so much fun. I liked chaos tag the most because I caught lots of people.

Congratulations to Alex for being our Hot Chocolate Award winner!

Have a lovely weekend,

Miss Lawrence
