Good morning. We are going to use the knowledge that we have gained about online safety for today’s task which is to create an online safety board game.
Online Safety Task
First design your board making it colourful interesting and easy to understand. Next think of the rules for your game. Finally devise questions based on internet safety for your game. This task may take you a couple of days to finish if you are doing it to the best of your ability ! Watch the YouTube clips and read the information below before designing your game. You can use the safe / unsafe game template and cards or create your own version !
- Board – You can decorate the board with images linked to technology and Internet Safety. The start and finish points on the board are clearly indicated.
- How to use the safe / unsafe Cards – As you move around the board, they might land on a ‘Safe’ or an ‘Unsafe’ square. At this point, you should pick up the relevant card and read the information on the back, following the instructions given. When making the game, you should add appropriate information to the back of each card:
- For ‘Safe’ cards, you might write “You asked an adult before using the Internet. Move forward two spaces” or “You use a safe search engine for children to find information online. Go forward three spaces”…
- For ‘Unsafe’ cards, you might write “You opened an email attachment which your friend didn’t mention in their message. Go back three spaces” or “You gave away some personal information in an online form. Go back four spaces”…
