Good Morning P4!

This morning’s tasks are:

Challenge

Let’s start this lovely Wednesday morning with a ‘Number of the Day’. Complete in your jotter or on paper.  https://mathsstarters.net/numoftheday/

Literacy

Today, we are going to learn about Similes and Metaphors. https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zfkk7ty/articles/z9tkxfr

A Simile is when we compare one thing to something else e.g. Zak is as brave as a Lion. It tends to use ‘as’ and ‘like’.

A Metaphor is when you describe something as being another thing e.g. Sophie thinks books are the key to your imagination.

  1. Look at the Similes and Metaphors PPT Simile_or_metaphor PPT
  2. Read the phrases and sort under the headings of metaphors and similes. Similes and metaphor sorting
  3. Can you finish the Similes and Metaphors. Finish the Simile and Metaphor

Play a game to complete the similes https://www.englishclub.com/esl-games/vocabulary/matching-similes-9.htm

Maths

Today, we are going to think about adding and subtracting money amounts.

When we add and subtract money we use exactly the same strategies we would use when adding and subtracting any number. The main difference is that our pound amounts will have a decimal point. It is very important you remember your decimal point within your sum and that all your numbers are lined up.
