RE

As it is May and a Month of Mary, we will continue our RE learning around Mary.

The Blessed Virgin Mary is the Mother of Jesus, the Mother of God.  She has many names or titles.  Think about the different ways we address her or talk about her.  We can pray to Jesus through Mary. She is one of the most powerful intercessors( mediator ) we have. She is always willing to take our needs and petitions to her Son, Jesus, for us.

The Hail Mary is the prayer we use most for this.  Today we are going to be learning it in Latin (Mass always used to be said in Latin).

You may recognise some of the prayer from hymns you have heard.  Below the prayer is how to say it phonetically. Here is someone saying the prayer, also with phonics – try saying it along with them.

Now write and decorate your own prayer to Mary using this template or your jotter.

Petition to Mary

You don’t have to share your prayer as they are very personal but if you’d like to, you can post it to your blog.

Now finish listening to this lovely version of the Lain Hail Mary being sung.

Science

For science this afternoon we are going to be trying to make some sweet tea using the power of the sun. Look through the PowerPoint to learn some facts about how the sun can be used as a source of energy before starting – you can make some notes about this in your jotter.

Solar Energy

Follow the instructions in the document about how to make your own sweet tea at home, make sure you include a hypothesis, a diagram, your own version of the instructions and results. There is a template included to give you some help as to how lay it out.

Experiment Layout

If there are any ingredients you don’t have then don’t worry. You can still draw out the diagram explaining the steps of the experiment and make a prediction as to what you think might happen.

Don’t forget to share your work to your Personal Learning Blog and have a good afternoon.
