Primary 7 Afternoon Post – 30th April

Good Afternoon Primary 7,

I hope you are all having a good week so far.  I am missing seeing all your lovely faces on a Thursday.

Since it is Thursday afternoon, it’s time to do some art work.  I absolutely loved seeing your Charles Rennie Mackintosh inspired roses last week and I’m excited to see what you all produce today.

Last week we studied a famous Scottish artist, therefore this week we will have a look at a famous artist from Canada.

The artist we are going to look at today it is called Emily Carr.  Emily Carr was a painter and writer who painted pictures of the Canadian landscape.  Why don’t you see what else you can find out about her?

Like many other artists, Emily Carr enjoyed drawing and painting things found in nature.  She is particularly famous for the work she produced featuring trees.  I have attached below an art tutorial on how to produce a painting of trees in the style of Emily Carr.  You can follow the tutorial and create a similar picture or you can be creative and create your own picture of trees in your own style.  If you can see trees from your house, you might want to try to draw/paint them?  If not, you could maybe find a picture online or in a book to inspire you.

Like last week, don’t worry if you don’t have the correct materials, just use whatever you have available.  Even if that’s just paper and a pencil!

Can the people who haven’t added me to their blogs yet, please add me?  I would love to see all the work you have been producing.

Thanks,

Mrs Craig
