Another busy week in P1A. This week we learned the sounds k and ck we practised writing the sounds and could recall words that have the sound. We also wrote a sentence using our sounds. We are continuing to learn all sounds and common words taught so far.
In maths we looked at facts to 5 and completed a fireworks addition sheet. We also played a dice game to add dice together and colour the number. We used the Numicon shapes to help us see the number facts within 5. We also looked at the number 17 practising how to write it and what 17 actually looks like using cubes, ten frames and Numicon.
We read a story about Bonfire Night and spoke about how to be safe. We sorted pictures into safe and not safe and also made a ‘Keep Back’ poster. We used chalks and oil pastels to create firework pictures. They are displayed outside our classroom.
We learned about All Souls day and we decorated candles to remember our loved ones who have died. They are displayed in our classroom.
We spoke about our new topic Transport – what we already know and what we would like to find out. We sorted different Vehicles into road/air and water.
For Outdoor Learning we went into the playground with P1B. We learned how to make sparks with the flints. We all showed confidence and perseverance with this task and everyone said it was one of their highlights of the week.
Our weekly highlights:
