This week we have had a pumpkin themed week! We learned about the parts of a pumpkin and completed a Seesaw task to label the pumpkin correctly. We did a Science experiment to see if the small, medium and large pumpkins float or sink. We had to make a prediction and record the results. We were very excited to take part in this experiment. We also read the story Pumpkin Soup and talked about the characters. We loved cutting open the pumpkins and using our hands, spoons and forks to see what was inside. Lots of people thought the outside of the pumpkin was lovely but the inside was disgusting! We wrote a sentence to describe the pumpkins and used our new common word ‘is’. We also used the whiteboard pens to decorate the pumpkins.
In Literacy, we have been learning the sound ‘i’. We had a reading task where we used torches to find the word behind the pumpkin picture and then we put a spider on the correct picture on our sheet. It was great fun!
In Maths, we have been learning about estimating and we had to make a sensible estimate on the number of pumpkin seeds on the board.
We all agreed the highlight of our week was our Halloween morning. We made necklaces and ghost puppets, took part in apple dooking and had fun dancing and playing the Halloween Corners Game in the hall with P1A and P2.
Congratulations to Tejasvi who is our Reading Champion for this fortnight. He has shown confidence in reading common words.
