P3 Week Beginning 29th September 2025

Hello P3 families!  Silly Mrs Brown has forgotten to take home the list of highlights from The Red Pandas!  My apologies Red Pandas!  Here are some of the learning experiences your child had this week:

It is Fair Trade Fortnight.  Mrs Roy has been teaching the children about what this means.  Our class went to Morrisons to see if we could see the logo on some of the food there.  We bumped in to Daniel’s dad there!  (I hope you remembered Daniel’s dilute!)  We also bought ingredients to make Fair Trade lemonade.  The children loved making and drinking this so much that they want me to put the recipe on Seesaw.  So, look out for this on Monday.  We plan to write about the steps for making it next week.

We used the Fairtrade bananas for our maths and made an array of our choice before eating them.  We hope to encourage our families to buy food with the Fairtrade logo if possible.  This will help poor farmers receive a fair price for their crops.

The children wrote lovely Acrostic poems all about Autumn.  Some worked independently and some in pairs.  To begin with, we had a class example, and in teams, we came up with as many words or sentences that started with the letters: L, E, A, F.  The option of getting support from a dictionary was available.  Next week we will create some beautiful Autumn art pieces.

We have also been learning about the meaning of the words from the Our Father prayer.  The children know that they are talking to God when they pray, so it’s important to understand what they are saying.

For PE, we have been practising our ball skills.  Two P5 helpers demonstrated bouncing with different hands while stationary and walking and how to bounce the ball under your leg.  Thank you to Oscar for being our photographer during PE this week.

My highlight was making our lemonade.  The room was filled with a fresh lemon aroma for the rest of the afternoon.

Congratulations to Joseph for being our Hot Chocolate award winner this week and to Viaan, who was our winner last week.

We welcome a new pupil to our St John Ogilvie family, Navami.  I hope she feels very welcome.

I am looking forward to having the opportunity to meet you all again next week for our parent consultations on Tuesday or Thursday.

I hope you have a great weekend, despite the storm.

Mrs Brown
