P7B Update

Dear Parents and Carers,

Here is an update on the last week in P7B…

We are nearing the end of our class novel Kensuke’s Kingdom which we are using for comprehension tasks and discussion. We have been enjoying the book and Benita even asked to read ahead to the last chapter “because it’s just so interesting and fun.” The school is lucky enough to have secured free places to watch the film (for free) at the Odeon Cinema on the 17th November so we have that to look forward too. Details will follow from the office nearer the time.

In Maths we have started a new pilot programme from The University of Glasgow called MathsBURST which promises to increase ability in spatial reasoning, computational thinking and overall maths skills. Jonah said he liked working with a partner and using the blocks. Alexa found it interesting and also enjoyed the teamwork aspect, seeing if they could follow her verbal instructions.

We had our first visit this school year to St, Peter’s for mass. It was a lovely and prayerful service by Father Kevin where the children participated respectfully and looked very impressive in their school uniforms. All members of staff received compliments from the parishioners on how well behaved and well-turned out the P7s were. Zac said, “We were very respectful at mass.”  Jude said it was nice that everyone was listening carefully during mass.” Layla said, “Mass was laid out a bit diffently but Father Kevin explained everything clearly and supported us through it.”

This week’s Hot Chocolate at Home winner was…. Renna for going over and above with her outstanding maths jotter work.

Have a great weekend,

Mr McGurn and P7B
