Happy New Year to all our Families!
It has been fantastic to have the children back in the classroom this week! They have been particularly excited about the snow and they have been very lucky to get out to play every day.
Over the next few weeks we will be learning about Robots. This week in writing, we designed our own Robot and wrote about them. The children had some fantastic ideas about what their robots could do and where they might live. Next week, we plan to make Robot models. We would really appreciate it if you could send in any junk materials that you have at home to support this.
In Maths, we have been working on subtraction from 20 and we have also been working out change from 20p.
Today we carried out a science experiment with the snow. The children collected samples of snow from outside and then we added, salt, sugar, warm water and cold water to the different samples. We also had a control sample where nothing had been added. Ask your child to tell you the results, it was very interesting!
Pupil Highlights:
Garvit – I enjoyed doing the science experiment with the snow.
Leighton – I loved making Polar Bear pictures in Art.
Alexander – I enjoyed reading the book ‘The Wild Robot’.
Maja – I liked learning how to takeaway from 20.
Ellie – I enjoyed starting to learn the poem in Scots.
Huge congratulations to our hot chocolate winner thi week, Oscar. Oscar is always very enthusiastic about his learning and has been working very hard in class. Keep up the great work Oscar!
