We have had a great first week back at school in P2/1.
In Literacy, we have been learning the sounds ‘v’ and ‘r’. We have been reading short sentences as well as reading our cvc words. For Wordboost we read The Frightened Little Owl and we were able to listen carefully for the boost words.
In Maths, we have been learning all about subtraction and how to use different strategies to find the answer. We have enjoyed playing games on the Smartboard to help us with this skill.
In RE, we learned about the Epiphany. We made special labels with drawings of our gifts for Jesus. We had to choose something that showed love for others.
In Topic, we have been learning all about robots. We read the book ‘Robot Rumpus’ and had to design our own robot. There were lots of creative ideas! For writing, we wrote about our robots and described what they looked like and what they could do. We also used the Beebots and we had to code them to dance and turn in a circle. On Friday, we had a great morning creating our own robot models using recycled materials.
As the temperatures have been very low this week we decided to fill some balloons and cups with water and leave them outside. We talked about solids and liquids and had fun trying to melt the ice.
Here are some of our personal highlights from this week:
Hallie – I enjoyed writing about the robot.
Vihaan – I enjoyed playing with the dinosaurs in the ice.
Muhammad – I enjoyed playing with the ice.
Zenith – I enjoyed making the ice.
Freddie – I enjoyed drawing the robot.
Miles – I enjoyed playing with the balloons and the ice.
Congratulations to Dawid who is our Hot Chocolate winner. He has been working hard on using his sounds and identifying the beginning sounds of words.
