This week is Scottish Book Week and we have had such a fun time reading books and doing activities linked to them.

At the start of the week we read ‘The Quickest Bedtime Story Ever’. We thought about and discussed our bed time routines, we also designed a pair of new pyjamas and a teddy bear. We also looked at time, things that happen during the day/night and completed a sorting activity.

Tiara – I liked the book.

Cerys – I made my pyjamas rainbow and flowers.

We also Read 10 Dogs, which is all about the number 10. We completed a math addition dog activity and looked at how to look after a dog.

Cerys – My dog Poppy howls when she gets scared.

Daniel – I like singing 10 little sausages.

We watched an illustrator on the smartboard, who taught us how to draw the Gruffalo.  It was so much fun and they were all so good Mrs Russell put them on the wall. We also read a book with the P6’s.

The final book we read this week was The Eyebrows of Doom, it was a really funny book and we all laughed when the seagull pooped on everyone’s head. We designed our own eyebrows and made our version of the front cover. We also made predictions about what might happen next, drawing a picture in your crystal ball. There are lots of rhyming words in the story, we worked in small groups to try and find which words rhymed. We also designed our perfect ice cream cone and worked out how much it would cost us, paying for it with the correct coins.

Alfie – I liked when Mrs Meikle said seacow instead of seagull when she was reading the story and we all laughed.

We discussed how we can stop germs from spreading and did a fun experiment using germs (glitter). We learned how to properly wash our hands to make sure we don’t spread germs.

Ava – I liked getting glitter on my hands.

We also really enjoyed making up our own stories using story prompts, some of the stories were very funny, such as a clown jumping on a trampoline and he jumped so high he ended up in space.

We look forward to sharing our learning with our adults on Wednesday.
