Hello P3/2 families!
Here is a summary of our spooky and fantastic week:
P2 focused on suffixes ‘ing’, ‘ed’ and ‘er’ for spelling. P3 focused on the ‘oi’ and ‘oy’ sound. We also practiced our handwriting with the spelling sounds.
In writing, we looked at acrostic poems with Halloween/spooky words and we all did amazing at this!
We looked at halfway points between two numbers in maths using the ‘Building Thinking Classrooms’ strategy writing on whiteboards on the walls. This new approach to learning has sparked curiosity and problem-solving skills in the pupils.
We have begun our journey of preparation to make the sacrament of reconciliation in RE.
We learned about mummification during the Ancient Egyptian times and even got to practice this on one another! (Although the Egyptians would have used a better material than toilet paper). We also ordered the steps of mummification and gained an understanding of the importance of each step. We looked at the canopic jars (where organs were kept) and created these out of playdough during our IDL stations.
It was amazing to see the pupils dressed up spooky on Thursday for Halloween. In the afternoon, we joined the other infant classes to do a variety of different activities. Photos can be found under the blog title “Halloween Fun in P1, P2 and P3”.
I hope everyone had a fun Halloween if you participated!
Have a lovely weekend,
Miss Mushet
