P5A weekly update: 3rd February 2023

Dear families of P5A!

We hope you are all well! This week we have been working really hard and want to share our highlights!

We have been working on fractions in maths and Emili particularly loved making equivalent fraction plates for our working wall. She also liked using the tiles to find as many equivalent fractions as possible! We have discovered that 1/2, 2/4, 3/6, 4/8 and 5/10 are all equivalent fractions! Julia also enjoyed playing on Sumdog this week. Fractions are a tricky concept so we will be doing lots of work on this over the next couple of weeks. There is also weekly maths homework to be completed on Sumdog which supports our learning in class. Simply log in and click on the ‘tasks’ section to find the homework.

Fahad, Vijval, Akshaj and Leo all said that they enjoyed using the laptops for writing during literacy this week. We chose our favourite narrative piece from the past few weeks and used lots of writer’s tools to uplevel our writing. We all did a super job and are very proud of our hard efforts!

Nikola’s weekly highlight was P.E. on Friday. We are lucky enough to have a champion highland dancer in our class- Emily- who not only gave us a special performance but also taught us some steps! We are so proud of our superstar and had so much fun trying a new style of dancing!

Eilidh’s highlight of the week was working on our John Muir research projects. We have been researching all about his life, his love for nature and the influence he has upon society today.

Inaayah enjoyed health and wellbeing this week. We were learning about Articles 7 & 8 which states that all children have the right to a name, to belong to a country and have their own identity. We loved making our own family crests to show each of our different identities!

Our Hot Chocolate winner this week is Leo. He tried so hard throughout writing and worked extremely well in literacy and maths all week too- fantastic work Leo!

Have a lovely weekend everyone!
